Yeah, that’s an inconvenient fact for most of those posting here.

Of the five people hospitalized in that group, four had previously been vaccinated.

So much for the narrative that’s out there in the media.

I’d argue that the vaccinated are a greater risk than the unvaccinated, as they can spread just as much virus, if not more, and are probably more likely to be asymptomatic. At least the unvaccinated people that get sick might notice it and have the good sense to self quarantine.

They're not binary states. Infection isn't a 0/1 either/or, just like "transmission" isn't. And the chances of getting/doing either are not binary. Same with "immunity." Not binary. Immune system is very complex.

Ever have a mild cold, or a mild case of food poisoning? Ever been immunocompromised, or near someone who is? What is their potential response to and outcome of a viral infection? Not binary.

Why are people so innumerate? Even a humanities major understands there are more than the two numbers one and zero. Concepts of percentages and probability. Why do so many people have difficulty with this?

No, it's not binary. Science is hard. Critical thinking is hard. Doing things, anything, is hard. Unfortunately for QAnon Twitter trolls and anti vax morons, viruses don’t neatly confirm to their manichean views of reality.

It's worth reading. It wouldn't dissuade me from getting a vaccination -- though that's a moot point since almost every single person I know and interact with who is eligible for the vaccinations now have them.

...if you read the research - even the vaccinated can spread it. It is HIGHLY spreadable with massive viral loads. The vaccinated won't get very sick but lots of you unvaccinated are gonna get it and many of you will die from it. Global pandemics have always been a way to filter out the gene pool. Seems like that just about to happen. We'll see.

You all seem to misunderstand the point of a vaccine. It doesn't mean the virus just sheds off you like water... It means your body can fight it quickly because it knows how. Thats how it works. Why else would the vast majority of medical professionals push the vaccine? On the global Bill Gates mind control payroll? Illuminati?

Island, I understand the concerns - but while they wait - lots of people are dying and new variants are getting created.

How many years and millions must get it before they feel its okay?
How many doctors tell them its okay?
Do you think those people will now EVER feel it is safe?
Will they wait until the next generation of children are born to see if they have autism?

I have questions.

I got it because I'm over 50, ex-smoker, travel, am around unvaccinated young ones, etc.. Frankly I wouldn't care if people skipped it, except that they are walking mutant factories. Now it looks like because we weren't fast enough - we will ALL be because Delta replicates so fast... Too late.

People like island are waiting for a government agency they do not trust to formally approve a vaccine that they do not trust made by an industry which they do not trust before not getting vaccinated by people they do not trust anyway. Effectively, they are here to perpetually stir shiz about something they have zero intention of ever receiving and to harass anyone who is vaccinated. Yet, if they become sick, they will not tough it out at home. Instead and if it becomes bad enough, they will go to the hospital and become someone else's problem only to complain about their "god-given right" to medical care not meeting their standards while exposing all who disappoint them. I'm almost 60 (November), could drop 20 lbs, ex smoker, and am not taking the current vax. Reason, I personally know 2 people who took the vax under doctor's recommendation and have been in the hospital off and on for 3 weeks with an onslaught of health issues. Our forum member HS in Fallbrook has same experience with his wife. I prefer to wait for an FDA approval and preferably more time to see what shakes out. The CV itself has a 99% survival rate and treatment is constantly evolving.

Now CA and many other states are bordering on another lockdown, regardless of vax record.

I am not anti-vax, have taken many in my life, but I am uneasy with this one for the reasons stated.

Pfizer will get full approval by the end of the year, possibly Sept. The full approval won't soothe the concerns of long term consequences one might have.

The Novavax vaccine will probably apply for EUA within a month. It uses a tried and true method, subunit. It has, and is, being used in hepatitis, shingles, and others. As with any vaccine it won't be without some side effects, though it won't be new type like the mRNA and unknown long term concerns should be minimal.

Jenson/J&J is a vital vector. As far as I know they have been around for some time, though not in wide use. They have been used for Ebola.
