Because gov't. programs never end, they have no time limits, the gov't. spends gazillions on Spanish language billboard signs telling people they are entitled to gov't. benefits, every gov't. program only grows, costs more, spends more and can never be stopped. They want people, most of whom pay no income taxes, to file for every gov't handout they can and they want it normalized. Paying with food stamps used to have some stigma attached to it. Now it's a EBT card that looks like any other and most fast food joints and convenience stores take them. Any one of us here could write a book on the number of examples of gov't. programs mission-creeping into never ending welfare and gov't. dependency. If you're a third generation Section 8 housing resident, well, that's proof that the gov't. want to keep you on the dole.

If the gov't. wanted people to ever get off the dole, they'd make benefits contingent on taking some course or training on how to get off the dole. Section 8 folks need to learn how to clean up their credit, be good tenants, earn money and budget and be limited to a certain amount of time on the dole. This doesn't happen. So it's passed on down to the kids. I used to think it was nuts that people in or from China or India had multiple generations living under the same roof. I couldn't imagine it. Now I run into it every single day here, mostly in the ghetto. I ask the beneficiary's name and where they live. 50% of the time it's the kids and/or grandkids, address same as insured.

Think about it, at a time when American car companies were struggling, he raised the mileage standards and basically made it difficult for the automotive industry to survive, so then they, in a round about way , took them over 2 of them, one sold to a foreign nation, basically told the investors of another to screw off and put more control to the union. The cash for Clunkers, that took inventory away from small car lots, automotive salvage yards and repair shops. And while taking inexpensive cars off the market, then financing new cars for the people who could least afford it. He also bragged about having the most people on government assistance than any other time in history. Currently, paying citizens to stay home, is killing the service industry and small businesses, increasing the loser wage is also killing the small businesses, the government blocking people from eviction when the tenants don't pay rent is also killing small businesses. I haven't heard anything about letting the property taxes and mortgages go unpaid. In the end, the government will have more people on the government plantation, people with connections will swoop in to take the real-estate and businesses that fail as a result of the government actions. Looking like biden is bringing back the failed policies of the traitor obama, super charging them and growing the number of people on government assistance while killing small businesses. They have even stated that they are going back to the home lending policies that wrecked the housing industry.

I can't argue with a thing you said Rick, except that you say it is some design on the part of government.

From my perspective government just wants to do the minimum necessary to treat them humanely. There is no money to take the extra step to do the things you identified as necessary to move some of them out of their situation (there are some that will never be anything but dependent). It takes money. It's hard enough to get congress members to allocate enough money provide humane treatment, let alone enough to do the things you identified. We are pretty much on the same page, except you say it is intentional and I think it is political weakness.

Humane treatment is not giving healthy people handouts. It is less equity where results are the same, regardless of performance, but equality allowing people to achieve as much as their hard work and good choices allow (not support them so that their lifestyle is the same as others that have worked longer, harder or smarter). If poor decisions do not impact a person/family, they are doomed...in fact, trained/conditioned...to always make them. "Poor" people today have very similar lives to the middle class. They have phones, TVs, cable, internet, video games, cars, etc. Their homes are heated and cooled. They eat in the same restaurants, live on nearby neighborhoods, kids go to the same schools, go to the same colleges, etc. They have tons of leisure time, often much more than the hard-working middle class. It was not that way when I grew up. Poor people worked multiple jobs and generally raised most of their own food and gathered fuel to keep their home relatively warm. They did not have air conditioning, nice cars, or luxuries like TVs, VCR, etc. They worked all the time (including weekends)...and taught their kids to do the same...so they would not have to live the same tough life as an adult. They were frugal and saved every extra penny to build a better life, send kids to college some day, etc. Folks today are soft and lazy. That is why socialism is so attractive to some. They want to do nothing but enjoy the fruits of other's labors. They need to put on big boy pants and make their own way in life...and we need to stop enabling them.

This is kind of difficult, but here goes.

Thirty one years ago we were looking to adopt a child and got a call. We went to another part of the province, met with the social workers and the infant's mother. The mom had two boys previously, one was with her, the other in care since her husband was out of the picture. Ten years later we found out her husband had been murdered. While he was around she was able to cope, but alone, she was beyond her capabilities. We were advised there may be signs of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. For the first 11 years, all was sunshine and light. She did well in school and had lots of friends. Puberty seemed to be the change. We came to realize she had no sense of consequence. She couldn't plan. Whatever her state wss, it would remain until someone got her to change or go along with them. While she was living at home, it was manageable, but after high school graduation, she had a job and wanted her own place. It took six weeks for her "friends" to empty her bank account and she got kicked out of her apartment. Periodically she would retreat to home, but would soon want to be on her own again. There has been an abusive marriage, a series of relationships with guys I didn't want in my home, one of which resulted in my grand daughter before they went their separate ways. She sounds like so many of the deadbeats described on pages above. She is just not capable of making her way but does not want "interference". Her work history is similar to her relationships. I wish I knew a way she could get back to the sweet kid she used to be, but through lack of self care she looks years older than she is and is in a place where she refuses help. Didn't even call her daughter on her birthday. Not everyone in the situation you described is there because the government wants them there, not all are there by their own choice. Best Les

As you nice boyz know i watch the reverse repo window. Back in the middle of May i said a Trillion a day..now 3 months later..we are gettin.a T a day at the window..

I was gona make this comment when i stumbled on this Thread..ifn i wasnt cryin i would be laughing. Man they are shoveling a T a day into limbo land just to keep it all on an even keel. It serves 2 purposes, first to drain excess liquidity and to float short term govt debt at 1/2%. How many Ts a day can they shovel in everyday..2T..3T..5T..10T? Seemingly.it is the endless bubble. Back in march 2020 i said it doesnt matter whether you have no debt or are in debt to the eyeballs u are fked. You intellectual boyz just dont realize how fked you are..it.is sooo.massive you just cant conceptualize it. If u did you would be absolutely horrorfied. The powers that be dont want to talk about it ..if they even understand it? They want nice calm sheep. Everything is fine..swell as a matter of fact.. Paul Ryan did and he got out of Dodge while the gettin was good. Now the FED is talkin about Tapering in sept/oct..the real.reason is to shore up confidence in the USD. But let us see how that goes..even money it dont go so swell..and they will have to restart the press.

Huh? Why is someone giving you a check to mail somewhere else? Why don't they mail it themselves? Why are you even involved with forwarding money ? What kind of 18th century business model is this ?

Also, what if he stopped paying today, what happens? What is his cash value before the $7k loan? If he stops paying today, and dies 5 years from now, his beneficiary gets the cash value when he stopped paying? Or do they get $0 ?

My neighbor has a 88 ford f150. rusty pile. Something wrong with it stalls when it gets hot. Could be anything. We recommend a guy. Also they have loaner cars for free. He says no ill take it to my guy. He rents a car has a few weeks and gets a uhaul van because the car is too expensive. A month and a half he's driving this van. Gets his truck back. Unfixed. I saw it on the side of the road. A few days later he is back in a uhaul van. I dont know who has his truck now but he could have bought a new truck by now.

He's paying $500/year for a $2k life insurance policy ? $5k for $60 is $700/year. Break even is 7 years. So, if he dies before 7 years, it was worth it?

Priority list: 1. Get elected. 2. Get re-elected. 3. Whatever. Many politicians depend on a permanent underclass to meet their 1 and 2 priorities. It’s their main voting base. I suppose that could be classified as a “political weakness.” In any event, IMO there isn’t a huge difference between intentional and political weakness. |

Thank you for your post. I admire men like you. We do the best that we can do, but they always go their own way, sometimes it's the way we would like, sometimes not. I know - our daughter has taken paths that gave us nightmares and still perplex us, and I swear we are the world's best, gold standard, award winning parents ever. ![]() ![]() Anyway, bless you for taking her on, and prayers for a great future for her.

I gave her $900 cash to buy a bed for us at her place, and left town on business. She sent her kids money (money orders) (grown kids) and got a queen mattress at Aaron's and had a note to tote.

That was 10 years ago. She built credit, owns a home now and her son is about to graduate college. I think he said he has $6k in loans. I was trying to teach him how to have zero, but it seems I have failed.
