I dunno. When I was in my 20s, I would drink 10 cups a day. In my mid 50s, I do about 3-4 cups a day. In my 40s, I would only drink 3 cups a day, but they were Starbuck Trenta. lol

What constitutes a cup?

Well of course a 'cup' measurement is 8oz but if you apply 'wine' rules, then a cup -used to be- 5 oz through the mid 20th century and in the 21st century it's 9 oz. obviously!

Yep, and they are 12 oz cups for me. I don't think I have 8 oz coffee cups.

But do ya put cream in your coffee? That's where the line gets drawn for me.

I traveled so much when working that I grew weary of coffee cream surprises. Went black 35 years ago.

Too much of anything is not good. Had a coworker that used to drink ten cups of coffee a day. He got a heart attack. His doc told him to cut back on his coffee consumption.

As regards cream in coffee I use 1% milk instead. Less fat. I drink tea more than coffee. Just turned 75 with no major health issues so must be doing some things right!

Same here. BLACK coffee. I have never even tried cream or sugar in my coffee as that just sounds gross. I prefer to taste the coffee and I sure don't need calories of cream or sugar or the chemical in the powered "whitners" that so many use.

When I order coffee at a restaurant I always specify, Coffee black, and they don't bother to bring the bucket of "cream" and sugar.

I like a touch of cream, not creamer, but that will do in a pinch. If I had to drink black coffee I'd drink clear soup instead. But I wouldn't get any caffeine. I never developed a taste for tea but I made a pitcher of green tea once and drank it all day. Man, what a caffeine kick!

If I am traveling a lot and get stopped up I will put a bunch of creamer in my coffee when I get to the hotel. Problem solved.

I mostly drink coffee strong and black, but now and then I will have a "dessert" cup with half and half with sugar or home made cinnamon flavored syrup. Torani syrup will do in a pinch.

I can’t drink coffee without cream. Even half-and-half or creamer don’t cut it. Needs to be full, heavy cream.

I never noticed any caffeine kick in anything that I ever drank. Not coffee, not tea, not soft drinks. I refuse to drink things like Red Bull, can’t stand the taste.

I would be 20# heavier if I went back to heavy cream. That makes it too much like candy and I would have it all the time. I already drink too much every day and that would NOT help.

I can drink normal caffeinated drinks right before bed and usually have no issues as well.

I can’t drink all that much coffee. I don’t care what you put in it. One or 2 cups, I’m done for the day.

One of our clients at our photo processing business was in in 80s. We had free coffee to clients and he was in the back getting coffee a few days after our company Christmas party. He saw the bottle of rum and added a shot of rum to his coffee, and said that will help warm him up.

I have never tried booze i my coffee. Two cups with breakfast, and I am done. My parents used to have coffee after dinner. I never did get that.

Two lattes first thing. then another at about 10 if I'm meeting up with someone. but no more than that and not much later in the day than that.

the days of between 10 and 12 black coffees in the 1980's is over.

At one local autocross the Redbull folks showed up back when Redbull was first out in the USA. They handed me a small can and I took a sip and did a full spit take, damn that was nasty tasting. It made Charbucks coffee tasted good.

On long road trips I will throw in the little bottle of "5 hour" energy to use if I feel sleepy. Driving sleepy is deadlier than driving drunk. If I feel just a little sleepy after many hours of driving I will suck down one of those. It does not make me feel amped up, just not sleepy. And it is more like 4 hour energy. I am at my destination when it is wearing off. I drink one of those per year on average. They are not great, but they do keep me alert and not amped up.
