New clock

Wife bought clock on sale at Walmart.
I hate roman numerals because they make me think.
But this one just seems off x2.

Man, that is sooooo wrong. Must be a new way of displaying Roman Numerals. Kind of like the new math or something.

I've always been curious about 4

Is it IV, IIII, or both???

Sure looks like they got 7 wrong though...

It must be correct.
One can clearly see that it's a Greenwich Clock.

A lot of clocks use IIII.
IIV is definitely not 7.

And the 7 is showing IIV. There is no such number.

The lack of logic is astounding: if VIII is 8, which they have correct, then why in hell would 7 be IIV?
The IIII is just cute, like let us reinvent Roman numbers .

Glad we found out.

Krazy, but look at a Rolex roman numerals dial...they use IIII instead of IV.

Nope..not a trench coat. Check it out. This one's on sale...and the deal clincher, they'll toss in a free sizing to your wrist. But hey..they did the 7 right.

Has it ever occurred to anyone else, that kids born in the digital age have no idea what you are saying with "it's a quarter to five" or "half past six"?

With regard to that Walmart clock, I can see "Happy hour from 5 to something like 3"?

To me it shows ignorance of the meaning of "arabic numerals"...not necessarily bigotry, just a lack of education.

Kind of like college students lining up to sign a petition to ban hydrogen dioxide.

One of the standard cognitive tests given to this old geezer is to hand me a paper & pen, ask me to draw a clock showing the time of eight-twenty.

Wish I was artistic...I'm tempted to draw a casio digital face showing 8:20:00.
