My 2002 is in the final hours on BAT!
Check it out on BAT, it's listed as:
Modified 1972 BMW 2002 5 speed It will sell for half of what's been put into the car of course but someone will be the new owner of a very fun and showable car |
You should always include a link in threads like this. Just sayin'.
GLWS. |
Wasn't sure if that was permissible here and not even sure of how to do it
|
Here you go Denis:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-bmw-2002-62/ That car reminds me of my '68 1600 that I had in '72. Your car is everything I would have wanted my car to be back then. GLWTA! It looks super nice. |
Thank you
|
I am glad I am NOT in the market - I would SOOOO overpay for that car!
As Scott wrote, You fixed all the stuff I did not like about my 1971 2002. |
Looks like a really nice 2002! I’m a big fan. The water is warm- what do you think it’ll bring? My guess- $30K.

Wow...what a freaking beauty!
Here's the iconic shot: https://bringatrailer.com/wp-content...it=2048%2C1367 |
I would have run a cold air tube from the snorkle over to the air cleaner, you know, just to duct the cool air over there. =;>)
|
I'm the second owner and the fourth. Long story, but I first bought the thing in 1977 when I was 23 years old. Been through a lot with the car and it's like selling a kid. I bet I've bought and sold 30 cars since then and kept this one but now it's time

Wow, it has 3 sunroof's. Read the text.
|
I'd put it on just to get the cold air close to the air cleaner. Doesn't need to be like the stock cleaner snorkel setup.

Phew, well sold. You must be pleased.
|
Just checked back in.
I know it is a bit bittersweet, but: Nice! |
65 k
unreal not even a Ti or Tii I bought my 70 in 86 for 1100 in good shape also had a 69 1602 got that for 200 not running also had a 1800 and 1800ti I hate car collectors |
That's one of the biggest selling prices I've seen on a 2002 - congrats! I thought $35-40K was the top of the market on those. Wow!
|
I bought my 71 2002 new for $3,500 out the door and sold it for that 14 years later. I guess I should have kept it. It had the usual issues: rear end bearing, transmission layshaft bearing, window regulator, some rust, seat structure, rocker shaft, etc. A very good car for that period.

Glwta !
But that bimmer subforum here, do something, plz ! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1632688812.jpg |
I'm a bit shocked in a happy way. I didn't think it would hit 40K with only 3 minutes to go but then the fireworks started. Crazy money for a non Tii 2002 but I guess I'll take it.

Good for you! I'd probably take it, too. Soooo, you think you made any money on it? Just asking. Not at all important. |
Wow - Nice car, congrats on the sale.
|
Puts the 2002 firmly into the collector car world...
Translation: No longer for enthusiasts... |
Wow!
I thought I did well buying my '68 1600 in '72 w/25k miles on it and selling it 9 yrs later for $100 less than I'd paid for it after putting 110k more miles on it too. |
Nice sale.
I'd submit that we haven't seen the end of high prices. Creeping up as time goes on for almost any internal combusted vehicle that has sporting pretensions, rarity or just plain demand. A reality barring any scenario where laws are made against them. |
|
The buyer is a nice guy in Seattle. And he's a real car guy so I know it will be taken care of

Are you going to get something else?
|
$65,000 !!!
Wow, nice car, but crazy money for a pretty standard 2002. |

I recently picked up a clean Subaru WRX with a bad engine, I had a new engine built and I'm breaking it in now. I'm dealing with this project before I buy anything else |

I like the square taillights and the black grille. I'd love to put together a '74-75 with a 2.3L 6-cylinder and put the earlier chrome bumpers on it...
|
Congrats!
How long until E28 prices go similarly bezerk? (asking for a friend) |
How long did the project take?
When was it completed? Why did you sell it? |
