Wow, some really great comedians that I forgot.
Others that I will look up.

How about old school?
Some not stand up but hilarious anyway.

Abbot and Costello
Burns and Allen
Jack Benny
Jerry Lewis
WC Fields
Paul Winchell and Jerry McCarthy
The Marx Brothers
Martin and Lewis
Lucille Ball

He was incredible. I have seen in Brevard, NC with his band.

That's awesome....I've been a huge fan since I was a kid.

Hilarious.

I have that album too. Listened to it over and over, long ago. Not sure where it is but I'd love get really small and play it again. "But first...a little Foggy Mountain Breakdown!"

My sister has a place there and calls me when he plays in the area...lots of summer music festivals.

I can't recommend the area more highly in terms of music...not all Bluegrass.

As a guy who grew up in the South, I always found Larry the Cable Guy to either be trying too hard or just plain fake. It's like he's from New York trying to be from the South. Just my opinion.

He made me laugh though. He and Bill Engvall.

mgatepi 10-08-2021 11:03 AM

Louis CK
Bill Engval
Rodney Dangerfield!

The Steep Canyon Rangers are from Brevard ... and were a band long before Steve started collabrating with them. SM was funny as hell when SNL was a baby.

I would have requested "King Tut" ... the bluegrass version :D

Crowbob Johnson.

Every time he stands up, everyone in the room laughs.

I don't think I've seen the Holy Grail mentioned yet........not Monty Python (hilarious, no doubt),
but the one and only Mr. Jonathan Winters:

A year or two ago I watched a biography show about Jeff Foxworthy on A&E.

On the show they had Jeff, Ron White, Larry the cable guy, and Kathleen Madigan.

The show was all about Jeff's life, career, and how he helped others.
Pretty much a well-deserved and well-earned tribute to Jeff.

But what was blaringly obvious was the absence of Bill Engvall.
Not a single mention of him and that struck me as odd. Bill owes Jeff big-time, 90% of his success and career are directly due to Jeff's help.

Couldn't help but wonder if there was a falling out?

+1 for Richard Jenni

Others on my personal favorites list:
  • GABRIEL IGLESIAS !!!! ("Fluffy")
  • Jimmy Carr (by far the best at dealing with hecklers)
  • Billy Connolly
  • Ricky Gervais
  • George Carlin
  • Robin Williams (the undisputed king of improv comedy)
  • Christopher Titus
  • Jim David (his "Comedy Central Presents" special is definitely worth watching) https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6r1k3x
  • Buddy Hackett (his routine on him sumo wrestling during a trip to Japan is one of the funniest things I ever saw; the "clean" version on the old Carson show was ok but wasn't nearly as funny)

You say RW was the undisputed king. I say Jonathan Winters was. Or they were equal.

To add to the list:

Bruce Bruce
Lavel Crawford

For me Louis CK is the best. Mitch Hedberg was phenomenal as well.

Rodney Carrington was pretty good. Pryor and Carlin were great. Did anybody say Flip Wilson ?

Another +1 for the late Richard Jeni; here's a favorite bit (NSFW—language) / PG-13) that busts everybody:
