Seriously, the higher up you are, the brighter the spotlight and the higher the standards you have to live up to. CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are regularly shown the door for in-office relationships; not many are stupid enough to leave an electronic trail like Gruden did, but they'd be out in an instant if they did. |

The only thing Gruden is guilty of is being in the NFL during their time of wokeness. I'm not defending the guy but I haven't seen anything that should have cost him his job. I mean seriously, if the guy was some raging racist, wouldn't someone like Warren Sapp have said something? Did Gruden scare that many people? Come on. The worst thing Keyshawn Johnson could say was that Gruden was a fraud. That's far from being a "racist" though. |
|
Wasn't that email to his own brother 10 years ago? and I may be mistaken but didn't the Raiders hire a female exec, a gay player, and black coaches within the last 10 years? In bad taste yes, but the PC thing seems to be out of hand in this country
|
You'd think with him gone now that you'd see former players piling on. The worst thing I've read so far was from Keyshawn Johnson. But Keyshawn didn't say the guy was a racist. Mike Tomlin didn't address it more that to say it was an all around sad situation.

Gruden out.

Right? What a joke. Shame on all of us for allowing this cancel bull****. The fraud here is our entire society. |
I hope they hire Ted Lasso . . .

Bonus they don't have to pay him. Very amusing how big a deal this is |
Rapists allowed in the NFL check . Domestic batterers allowed in the NFL check . Drug users allowed in the NFL check . Make disparaging remarks about someone you are outta here ....... got it . 🤬 . But disparaging language set to music is allowed at super bowl halftime shows ...... . got it 😲

b) What facts do you think will come out that might negate the emails? Someone else wrote them? Should we read thousands of emails before we 'judge' him? c) What mechanism would you use to remove players who kneel? |
Are you guys just getting the memo about double standards in this country?
Of course they exist, always have always will...Affirmative Action is a gigantic boil of a double standard for instance. Gruden resigned for two clear reasons and a whole bunch of ancillary issues, many of which do not pass the sniff test. So what: He was going to be a huge distraction because of the obvious and clear double standard of race reporting in this country and, certainly, he was going to be fired. That is what private industry does. Pick you poison. Stop watching the NFL if this and the other obvious double standards bother you...that is the only way this ends. But we won't, at least I know I won't. |

He was right about the head of the NFL too. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1634133965.jpg |

In the end society sets the rules: Gruden's misogynistic, racist, boorish behavior had the potential to drive away minority and female fans, the one area of growth left for the league. The half-time show will be whatever is popular and sells tickets, the NFL does not care about content. Only eyes and dollars. It's an effing business, not a paragon of virtue and fairness. Get on board or stop watching. There is no middle ground. |
I thought we were all capitalists here?
It's all just business. |

There's always middle ground and it is typically found where double standards don't exist and there's consistency in what is done. The NFL is blowing in the political winds in hopes of expanding their market. They made an example of Gruden but don't hold the players, people you say are more valuable than a quality head coach, to the same standards. |
