I like to have an Omega Seamaster Chrono for my daily watch, and a Speedy Pro for special occasions and a nice Rolex Presidential for dress up. I don’t demean you for wearing a Hamilton. It’s a nice watch. But it’s not a Rolex and that’s what I want to wear, discreetly tucked under my jacket sleeve when I go into the office. It sounds pretty elitist to me that you think someone should limit themselves to the brand you prefer, rather than something they like.

Or, accessorize with a Glock when you wear your Rolex.

Explain to the mugger he can have it for twenty Hong Kong dollars. Or six Rolexes for a hundred.

Damn chilling video...and don't think it can't happen here. A citizen being arrested for trying to speak in a school board meeting comes to mind.

I still want a no date sub or milgauss but the prices have gone insane and I'm not interested in forking out 10g for a watch. I went to Bobswatches twice an both times I brought my Doxa or Sinn and laid it on the counter right next to a sub and both times I thought "meh"..

I don't see the value in a Rolex. They look really good online and but something is lost when I see one in real life.

Otto..we make our choices. You made a good one for yourself. As for myself, I look at a watch like I look at an appliance...just something that has the features I want and will serve me well.

But I really started this thread as more of a "be careful out there" message than a discussion of watches. I probably should have used "high end watch" instead of "Rolex"...

Guys, try not to make yourselves targets...

I was just in NYC, and admittedly wore a cheap Orient automatic. Want to steal my $200 automatic, do it up friend.

I'm an Omega man. Co-axial Aquaterra. No denying a Rolex is an excellent watch, just not my jam.

I still look at subs and milgauss online, can't help myself, still want one... maybe someday

I've had my Doxa for 12 years. It needs servicing now and I have a friend who can do it.

I've never seen another Doxa on a wrist or in a shop, anywhere. Nobody knows what it is.

everyone who gets into pricey watches becomes a watch snob to some extent, its unavoidable

sorry, I forget to check the size of the file sometimes

these watches look so good when they're filling the screen of a laptop but often lose something when seen in real life

I own a nice Rolex (pre-ceramic submariner) but I rarely wear it now.

- I'll unload it one day but I'm not ready to give it up just yet.

You basically cant get a new one from an AD these days. Have to pay way over retail at a grey market dealer. I am actually a pretty big fan of rolex watches but it has gotten just nuts. These things were overpriced at retail, but now you basically have to fight for the honor to buy one.

Patek stainless and AP royal oaks are the same. Patek 5911 I think is like 2-3 times retail to buy. A plain stainless watch for 100k so stupid.

I love a fine watch but I'll go for a A white gold A lange sohn or a Patek world timer or something much more interesting for that money. The thieves will assume its a gold plated fossil.

If anyone is shopping, I am selling my Sinn 757 UTC, just back from factory service. It's so awesome, but it's not going back into my rotation.

I was given a Rolex, and have been nervous about wearing it. Now I'm not going to wear it.

When I want to show off, I just wear slightly looser underwear with slightly tighter trousers.
Ain't nobody checkin' out my wrist when I walk by.

Love that Sinn U1! They are one of my favorite watches.
