Whataburger

There was another thread that has probably been sent to parf purgatory about In and Out Burger and vaccines. Anyway it quickly turned into what is the best fast food burger. Javadog, I just had WHATABURGER. It stomps In and Out. You’re so correct. Anyway, carry on…

GH85Carrera 10-29-2021 02:06 PM

We have several Whattburgers around here. They are pretty good.

stevej37 10-29-2021 02:08 PM

Have had Waterburgers numerous times.
They are nothing compared to Culvers.

I see Culvers in Canton. (4896 Everhard Rd NW, Canton)

Never been there but it's kinda Michigan and Ohio as a whole

I have had Whataburger and In and Out.

Must partake in Culvers before comment.

Culver's Rocks....

stevej37 10-29-2021 02:31 PM

A Culver's ButterBurger Deluxe is my favorite. They have multiple other burgers and meals besides that. They are all good.

Was in Florida a few weeks back and they have extended their outlets down there.

Two blocks from the Mickey D's.

Lol..if you go for the BB deluxe...get the single patty. They offer 2..but the single is much better..IMO

Eric Hahl 10-29-2021 02:40 PM

Shake Shack makes a pretty good burger.

I enjoy both, but it’s pretty hard to beat a green chili double.

Gogar 10-29-2021 03:18 PM

Whataburger is great and does that central-southern "old-fashioned" really well. Sonic used to taste like whataburger back in the 80s. Mustard and pickles and onions

Shaun @ Tru6 10-29-2021 03:21 PM

When I drive out to Columbus soon, I'm going to Culver's.

Scott, pretty much anything stomps In and Out. No real shocker here.

fintstone 10-29-2021 03:28 PM

I ate at a Whataburger in Denver back in the 70s..and it was not very good...never went back. I do like In N Out. I have to wonder if it depends on the Restaurant. When I have had a Fatburger (seems like Manhattan Beach or nearby) or even Der Wienerschnitzel (seems like near Torrance) in CA, it was better than elsewhere, but In N Out in Compton was not nearly as good as the ones in Vegas.

Jolly Amaranto 10-29-2021 03:31 PM

Of all the places around here I guess I prefer Wataburger. I generally shy away from any fast food chain burger and try to find some mom and pop place. An example from few years ago, I met my nephew in Valentine, Nebraska to join him in canoeing down the Niobrara River. He was on a quest to canoe in all 50 states, but that is another story. The night before heading out on the river we found a place to eat in Valentine, something like the Coachlight Cafe. If I recall correctly I got the "Cowboy Burger". Wow, it was great. A few days later, after the canoe run, we made a return visit.

upsscott 10-29-2021 04:01 PM

I’m the same way. Usually I try to go to a non fast food place. However I’m in Texas this week visiting my son and daughter-in-law. They live on base and Whataburger is real close. I was impressed.

Eric at Pelican Parts 10-29-2021 04:04 PM

Patty melt + onion rings + spicy ketchup is my go-to at whataburger.

I remember Tornado burger in Stafford, TX being pretty darn good too.

aschen 10-29-2021 04:11 PM

WB is solid, though they take thier damn time getting you your food.

Their ketchup is the best. I'm no tomato product aficionado either but its good enough to double the delciocity of french fries

Baz 10-29-2021 04:12 PM

These places make them better than you can at home?

astrochex 10-29-2021 04:25 PM

Just had a chicken sandwich at Whataburger. It was fine.

No love for Five Guys? Their fries and shakes are terrific too. Secure a small line of credit before going.

Also, I'm a bit Culver's'd out.

Bill Douglas 10-29-2021 04:43 PM

This is a Fergburger (not to be mispronounced as furburger) that you can buy in Queenstown NZ

I have had Five Guys, Whataburger and Culvers.

My favorite is Burger Fi.

https://www.burgerfi.com/

Huge Plus, Burger Fi serves beer.

We just had a Phat Burger open up here, we were not impressed. Really greasy burgers. They serve beer too but I still prefer Burger Fi.

This, quality varies by location/management. I have figured out here in ABQ which Whataburger's to go to. I have also experienced since this effing virus that quality in general is off.

I also like 5 guys, they stack their burger with lots of fresh veggies which I like.

A drive through seems like a questionable idea for Five Guys. They take a good while to cook up a burger so feasting on peanuts passes the time.

Burger preferences aside, please thank your son and daughter-in-law for their service.

That said, Val’s Burgers in Hayward Ca is one of the best ever.

craigster59 10-29-2021 05:46 PM

Another thing, I’m not a “messy burger” guy. I sometimes think the best way to judge food is to strip it down to essentials.

For me that’s a cheeseburger with mustard and onion only. Bonus points for grilled bun.

red-beard 10-29-2021 05:55 PM

If I have a choice for the fast food chains, it is Whattaburger. Five guys is good but it is sit down only.

Wendy's would be my next choice, then BK.

There is a saltiness in Whattaburger that makes it taste the way it does.

I totally agree on the “Messy burger” thing. I always wear half the burger at In and Out. Whataburger was very clean.

A guy on the Mustang board I visit started a thread raving about the Butterburger.
Alas, we in Oregon can't learn how good they are.

Lucky me,
We have a Whataburger opening here soon.
Never had one, they left Nashville back in the 70s
We do have a Culver's but I have never been there.
Hopefully they will be better as I have been to the others
