Only one...very happy where I live.

masraum 12-10-2021 03:38 PM

Are you guys hiring for people or something?

It sounds like your hiring manager is crap.

LWJ 12-10-2021 03:40 PM

I have a pretty serious aversion to face tats.
Not a fan.

I was mentioning to a buddy this am about a guy that was shot dead in a car-jacking incident nearby. Covered up to his jaw line in tats.

If you get decorated like a thug, you may have a nasty ending.

My opinion.

Those sort of tats are showing your attitude towards the world. Maybe the nicest person ever. But they are putting out a vibe that says otherwise. On purpose. Me? I would be VERY hesitant to hire him.

First, I would delete the photos in thread. Just in case. Then I would have a conversation with entire management team.

You’re not getting the people you want. You need to figure out why. It may not be what people want to hear but ignoring it won’t make it get better.

Chocaholic 12-10-2021 03:53 PM

It seems that when you decide to cover your head, face, hands with tattoos, you also decided that closing doors is ok with you.

Ayles 12-10-2021 03:54 PM

They don't call those tats the "ever lasting job stopper" for nothing...

Rick Lee 12-10-2021 03:59 PM

What does this have to do with race? You don't want gangbangers and thugs working there, put it in the ad - clean criminal background check required, no visible tattoos in work attire. That should weed them out.

Jeff Higgins 12-10-2021 04:01 PM

I remember what Brian Setzer said about this. "Best advice my dad ever gave me was to never get a tattoo where the judge can see it."

KFC911 12-10-2021 04:11 PM

Training? There should be at least two new job openings now .... WTF was somebody thinking?

look 171 12-10-2021 04:14 PM

Those guy would never make it pass my front door to drop off any applications. No fking way. I with Rick, I don't see how this is a race issue.

Sooner or later 12-10-2021 04:23 PM

I most likely wouldn't hire the guy.

But...

What job was he hired for?
What are the job qualifications?
Did he meet the qualifications?

In a previous job I had daily interactions with a guy from another company. He looked very close to the guy in the picture, though not quite as heavily tatted up. He was as knowledgeable and helpful as anyone else in the organization, probably more so.

I would delete the photos.

HobieMarty 12-10-2021 04:24 PM

Yeah...no!!! I would not feel comfortable working around that guy. I know "they" say don't judge a book by it's cover but I'd be cautious around that one.

I think he'll make a great impression on customers coming in your front door!

Tobra 12-10-2021 05:10 PM

Judging a book by its cover is human nature

They do matter.

May be the most qualified and hardest worker around.

Probably?

Nothing. But when I brought this up with the HR Manager, she said that I was acting racist.

I then reminded her of what our owner said to our last HR Manager....."I know we can't discriminate, but if I see another guy covered in tattoos I'm not gonna fire him, I'm gonna fire YOU."

I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like the owner will handle it.

My bad, more likely Mexican mafia, see what a 5 second internet search can tell you

If you read the OP, you would realize, totally immaterial.

Oh, and the woman who called this racist, idiot.

Sooner or later 12-10-2021 05:23 PM

I wouldn't consider it a racist remark.

craigster59 12-10-2021 05:27 PM

13 = thirteenth letter of the alphabet, "M". Sometimes "marijuana" but most likely "Sureños" or Mexican Mafia.

He's got the Raiders T-shirt, most likely wearing black Nike "Cortez" shoes also. Probably recently released from prison (due to COVID). There are volunteers who do laser tattoo removal to help ex-cons reenter the workplace but probably a backlog due to, what else, COVID.
