First runs I believe. They are stamped 1968 on the bottoms.

Been that way here in SW OH for a while now Byron. Somehow it seems like only the local Kroger's have been able to get new shipments.

All of mine got tossed in the 70's, along with trains and erector sets, etc. I had enough of the straight track for 2 runs down the basement steps, and we used to have races. A friend had a racetrack, you would hit a lever every time your car came around to give it a boost.

I did keep the HO slot cars, have enough track to cover 2 ping-pong tables, but it hasn't been setup since the early 70's. I suspect decades of neglect will have taken it's toll on that stuff.

I was more of a Matchbox kind of guy, back when they were Made in England. Then something happened... and another thing happened... and now they're one and the same, I think. I'm too lazy to look it up.
