Porsche-Red Bull deal off. It was sort of a confusing, convoluted deal to begin with. I wonder now if Porsche goes to Indycar? They're looking for a 3rd engine manufacturer. Porsche had expressed interest in the past. And there are similarities between the new IMSA hypercar engines and the new hybrid Indy engines. Penske is running the Porsche IMSA program and would, I'm sure, be interested in a Porsche Indycar team. Porsche have won F1. They've not won the Indy 500.

Porsche may still do F1,
McLaren would be the best partner for Porsche as Andreas Seidel who Team Principle before that he was Team Principle of the Porsche LMP1 programme so Porsche would have confidence of having one of 'theirs' already on the inside I've heard McLaren now has a German type management structure/practices which hasn't gone down well with the long term McLaren guys Or Porsche could buy out Williams if they wanted their own team but that would be an extremely long road from the slow end of the grid before Porsche would enjoy any success, assuming Porsche stay in F1 for long enough |

They should focus on endurance and their synthetic clean fuel. Sooner or later politicians will figure out the 2035 electric car mandates will not happen (lack of electrical supply - even now, lack of sufficient charge points, dirty rare minerals used for batteries) - and Porsche can swoop in with an acceptable solution of a super clean fuel made of carbon pulled from thin air, to delay that cutoff.. Also competing with another VW brand was dumb. |
The way Albon is running as of late the Williams chassis may not be that far off . In a relatively short period of time with cash infusion they have gone from doormat to respectable . If they were to partner with someone like Porsche who knows how far they can go .
If I saw it correctly today watching practice Latifi had the highest straight line speed other than Max . Again showing the Williams has potential . With more $$$ and expertise they can go far . Interesting to think about . |
Williams is probably the most likely option since they are owned by an investment company who could care less about whether they're in F1 or not.

Alex Albon out for this weekend with appendicitis replaced by Nick Devries . Nine drivers get grid penalties . This could get interesting 😜

Why is Ferrari pit crew in yellow?
Edit: N/m. Found it. |
Mick qualifies 20th.
Haas probably knows he won’t be driving for them next year |

Having said that keep all sharp objects away from Latifi . How embarrassing to be out qualified by a team mate called in at the last minute to replace Albon . |
A 2-stopper is better than a 1-stop strategy? 18 laps to go and 19 sec behind the fastest guy in the series?
|
What's the point of sending out the safety car if you're just going to end the race under yellow anyway? Heck, just finish the last 13 laps under VSC at that point.
Either way, Ferrari handed the race to Red Bull once again with their strategy. Wonder how much Horner and Marko are paying Binotto to throw the races? |
And congrats to DeVries on a great race. I saw some meme on how he's going to make Latifi finish 22nd in a 20-car championship.
|
F1 really needs to get this Safety Car stuff sorted.
1. close the pits until leader is picked up. No free stops (ditto for VSC, just leave pits closed) 2. pick up leader and immediately let lapped cars over take 3. when, like in this situation, the incident is cleared get the SC OFF THE F'EEN track at the soonest point which doesn't have to be the pit entry How is it that cars (George) were able to overtake the SC early in the SC time but others were not allowed to overtake later??? I hate rhetorical questions but there it is on full display how bunched up the SC rules and operation is in F1 currently.. |
I think Devries may have stuck a fork in the F1 career of Latifi today . He out qualified him and out raced him . A very solid performance overall . Schumacher battled to 12th and beat his teammate and needs to continue doing so .
I wonder how Alonso feels about today's Aston Martin DNF fest ? Mercedes slowly crawling back to being contenders. Danny Ric couldn't get laid in a women's prison his luck is so bad . Pretty impressive that Checo salvaged a good finish after having brakes on fire ! Also a solid drive for Sainz he was enjoyable to watch carving through the field. |
Wonder how those track marshalls feel. They've gotta be Italians and Tifosi, right? Had they been able to clear Ricciardo's car quicker, they could have given their driver a chance to pass Max at the end. I don't think I've ever seen a car cleared so slowly.

I don’t agree about Schumacher. Magnussen had a 5 second time penalty applied. I think there are some better talents out there who can help these struggling teams. |
Man that should have been red flagged! Scary when the cars were coming up fast the the crane when it was moving and slowed down quick, one car darted to the inside to avoid the car in front, but it was right at the crane.
Gotta fix that stuff! |
At last weeks race there were cranes with big long booms so they could reach everywhere.
Monza-not so much. Realize it a different track layout and a lot longer track but.... |
Interesting article about the modern super license process . I found it interesting that Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen would not have been granted a license under the current system .
