should be interesting. meeting some friends at Lake Texoma for some Stripe bass action. my brother will pick me up from Dallas Airport and we drive to camp.
this will be in May so I hope the pandemic shenanigans have tapered off somewhat. I canceled a texas deer hunt because of all this S, going on. Oklahoma!! curious what that is like. anyone ever seen Lake Texoma?

I dont think I've ever been to Oklahoma.
It is a very large lake. On the south lake edge is the border to Texas.
If it is windy, there can be large white cap waves. Great fishing lake. Lots of state record fish caught there.

Been to Tulsa to the Navistar manufacturing facility work-related. It is flat as a pancake....like I could see all the way to Texas flat. I stayed near the airport, so I didn't get a chance to see much else. The area reminds me of a local city that was still stuck in 1975.

It's nice.
If you have a couple extra hours on the way up to Texoma or back down let me know. You'll have to pass by myself and Lubie on the way. I'm sure I can drag him out to have a beer or three with you. We can meet you in Grapevine which is the North end of DFW. I can promise you the best ****ing brisket taco you will ever have in your life.

I think that was a post from Nostatic, I always got a kick out of it. Hope Todd's doing well.

Been there, done that, got my Eskimo Joe's t-shirt. Don't really feel compelled to visit again anytime soon.

Flat? You guys blind?
The eastern half of Oklahoma is quite hilly, there’s more than 500 feet of elevation change in the area around Tulsa alone. |

Since you are fishing, keep this in mind....
I think Oklahoma fixed the 2% beer issue a couple years back. ![]() Forgot to mention Texoma is a saltwater/freshwater lake depending on what part you fish. Texoma has it own fishing license to fish the entire lake.

Stripped bass is very interesting because it can be found in salt water as well as fresh water.
I never caught one in either, but that is on my bucket list.

Lived in Tulsa for 4 years. 2 of our 3 kids were born there. Tulsa was one of the best places we ever lived. Great people, foothills of the mountains are beautiful as you head toward Arkansas (the guys above who stayed near the airport and said it was flat should have turned around and looked in the NE direction).

If you feel like a minor detour, I recommend a drive to Cache to see Quanah Parker's Star House. I don't know what shape it is in but it was cool the last time I drove through.
Read, "Empire of the Summer Moon" before you go...puts that part of the Plains in perspective. Then drive around the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. You will be glad you did.

If you fly into DFW and take 35 N. to get to Oklahoma, when you get to US 82, I’d suggest a quick detour west to Fischer’s Meat Market in Muenster Texas.
Google it before you plan the trip, I think it’s a place you would get a kick out of. Have them cut you some ribeyes to grill at night after fishing and stock up on some sausage to eat during the day, while out on the water. |
