She must’ve swung out way, way too wide on that U-turn to end up where she did.

Everyone is in a rush and traffic is heavy at that time of day, so it's normal to be moving along but not recklessly. I think that the Prius was for some reason where it should not have been, maybe making a U-turn on Sunset as her light turned red. She caught him by surprise as he had the light and the slow-motion train wreck occurred.

That's my armchair guess, anyhow. I have a lot of time on my hands this week.

Funny thing is, because I'm stuck at home with Covid and bored out of my mind, I flipped on the local police scanner on my iPhone yesterday and heard this accident broadcasted in full as it was called in. They of course said nothing about Arnold on the radio but they did request a supervisor.
loooks like the prius turned right and was in the wrong lane.
I had a lady do that to me. she was holding her phone in one hand and driving with the other. she turned right onto the road I was on and WOULDNT put her phone down to turn the steering wheel so she could came into my lane because she couldn't turn sharp enough. then gave ME the finger when I blew my horn at her.

Just last week a "lady" or female human came up to an intersection with a stop sign to the main 2 lanes in each way thoroughfare. She had pretty much come to a stop, but she was looking only one way, and her head never turned to look my way. When I saw her with a phone to her ear, looking away my foot came off of the gas, and hovered over the brake pedal. Sure enough, she started pulling out right in front of me. I nailed the brakes and the horn together, and she just looked at me like I was in her way.

we have a divided 4 lane here with a side road. its not uncommon to see someone driving (north) in the (southbound) lane..lots of tourists here.
its easy to do. if you are on the side road and want to turn onto the main road its easy to just turn left into oncoming traffic. one actually passed me going the wrong direction. thank goodness I was in the right lane.

we have some traffic circles.
I have seen several people stop when entering and turn left going the wrong way to make a left instead of going all the around.

when I was younger I was two cars behind one that hit head on with another car that was going the wrong way on I95. it killed one that I know of.
I pulled the baby out (still in car seat) . it had a broken leg.

I use to race bicycles a long time ago. kind of glad I stopped as I say I would probably be dead. one thing I learned was to make eye contact with someone either pulling out from the side or turning left towards you. also always be prepared for them to do the worst thing you would want them to do.

Long ago when I was driving my 914 I was going along at 40 MPH posted limit and a (expletive deleted woman) looked right at me with full eye contact, and she pulled right out in front of me in her POS rusted Suburban. I hit the brakes, but after many hundred autocrosses I knew there was no way I was going to stop in time. I just used my autocross driven instinct and let off the brakes, and turned into the spot where she had just pulled out. I did a full 180 degree spin and just missed a curb by inches. She just drove off frustrated she did not get to collect a 914 into her side.

That is one reason I don't carry a gun, because I would have jumped out and shot her, and now I would be in jail even though I was justified.

You are the reason 30,000 gun deaths is not more. Good for you. What she did sucks, but it doesn't "death penalty" suck.

You're right of course. However, had she caused the 914 to wreck I believe the death penalty would have been justifiable. A 911, without question.

I'd definitely feel that way if it was my 911.

I could tell multiple stories about the idiots I've encountered on the road over the years and yes I've made mistakes out there.

There's only one way to avoid most of them. Drive defensively and at the speed limit. If you want to be less frustrated? Lower your expectations. For instance Taxi drivers often take silly risks to save time so if you keep that in mind you wont feel frustrated or angry when they cut in front of you.

Dash Cams are a good idea. I've been using one for about 7 years. (I'm on my second camera)

James May said something long ago... "Why would they let someone drive a car if they didn't want to be good at it?" (or something like that)
That may sound like a simplistic statement but there's a lot of wisdom in those words.

It was not just the car, I likely would have been injured to some extent. I still wonder why she wanted me to hit her. It would have clearly been her fault as she had no right of way at all.

I can only guess as to her motives, and I just get mad thinking about it, and that happened 35 years ago.

I had a guy in a tractor-trailer from Swift Trucking pull out in front of me and I was on the ABS trying not ot hit his drivers door. He stopped the truck and got out yelling and cussing at me because he says once he is in the intersection he has control. I told him WI law says he has to yield to traffic when he is at a stop sign. He told me it didn't matter, even though he was the only one with a stop sign. I told Swift what an idiot he was and they never got back to me. To this day I would never do business with them should the occasion arise.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints about Swift drivers, I wonder if that’s more than a coincidence?

People look right at you and don't see you all the time on a motorcycle. Had it happen to me in a very orange 914 once, happens a lot in the invisible colored Miata.

I try not to attribute malice when slack jawed stupidity fits. People are pretty stupid, a lot of them are anyway. I often see people do stuff in front of fully loaded tractor trailers that no sane person with even the slimmest understanding of basic physics would ever consider.
