I just go to a jewelry store, pay for them to change batteries...

I wonder if that'll work on my Charles Hubert pocket watch. Covid killed my local watch shop.

^^^Not very many jewelry stores left around here to buy a battery. Which is too bad.
Now that I've got the battery out...I'll get a new one easily enough.

I was totally surprised how easily this tool worked on my watch.

Case backs are often pressed on, screwed on, or held on by tiny screws, depending on the back.

If it's a pressed on back...a tool like this is perfect.
The key to the removal is that the plastic part sits on the watch base and acts like a fulcrum.

Without the leverage...it's dam* near impossible to get the cover off.

The price of a new Skagen (on Amazon) is about $125
Everyone of them that I've owned have lasted at least 5 years.

Money well spent.

Bergeon is a watch tool company based in Switzerland.

They make some really nice tools and lubricants for watches but they are a lot more expensive than anything made in Asia.

I have a few of their tools including that one and whenever I use it on my Movado, I end up driving it right under my fingernail- hurts like a mother; doesn’t matter how careful I am- still right under the nail! Case back is real tight. I now have gotten smart enough to wear Kevlar gloves whenever using a knife while holding something.

Proof positive that you can indeed teach an "old dog" new tricks!

But rather than kevlar gloves, you might try not pulling the knife towards yourself or any body parts in general. Your call.

The curved edge is probably also an important feature.

I don't wear watches, but that tool looks like it could have several uses, like opening oysters for example.

I wasn't really sure...but I found this...
https://watcheswebs.com/where-are-skagen-watches-made/#:~:text=In%20the%20past%2C%20Skagen%20watches%20w ere%20made%20in,but%20feature%20Miyota%20quartz%20 movements%20imported%20from%20Japan.

I like them especially because of the thin fit. Never gets bumped or caught on anything.
