I was reading something on F1 being under fire for polluting - and a journalist made an interesting counterpoint - The tour is actually considered to be the single most polluting sporting event in the world - not because of the riders but because of the estimated 14 million people driving to attend !! Some irony there (take your bike, people!!)

Phil Anderson look to be a bit frighten there with someone grabbing his arm.
I wish some of the protestors today would get that treatment from the general public when they are blocking traffic stopping by standards from their daily lives. |

Today's stage is still rolling. I've just watched them climb Galibier. The power that these guys have in their legs is amazing.
I noticed a lot of bicycles along the routes shoulder. Apparently many spectators rode their bicycles up there! |

That ride today was hugely impressive. Vindegaard was a beast

It's awesome to see the Danish riders doing so well. Those pinheads that jump out into the road - so stupid! Jonas was getting pissed! |

It looked like Pogacar cracked today.
As far as those chuckleheads on the side of the road... well a knee in the head as they stoop down to get a pic would be deserved. Did you guys notice all of the bikes on the side of the route? Also, I wonder how much the MC exhaust fumes bother the riders? |
Tomorrows ride will go a long way to determining who wins. Epic rides today.

Alpe d'Huiz today. Oh baby!
These crowds are nuts. They get close enough to slap riders on the back! I saw it happen today. |
Many years ago, back in the late 1970s and through the 19802 I watched the 3 tours religiously off our 12 foot sat dish usually from the Italian service RAI television. I was really excited when Greg Lemond went to Europe and went onto the big French team with Bernard. In one of the stages of the tour of Italy Bernard Hinault was leading and the Italians did NOT like him of the whole French team at all! This was before barracades on the mountain top stages and the spectators would nearly close the road for a non Italian rider. Soooooo the Renault team director pulled ahead of MR B and opened both front car doors and spectators went FLYING! That happed twice more and finally the spectators were ordered by the police to stay off the pavement and they sort of did. Those races are on some very old VHS tapes and I watched one the other night in the garage/machine shop in my old TV that has a VHS and DVD player built in.

Another brilliant finish today. A young, unknown first timer takes the de Huiz stage by a big margin. |
