Burning coal and natural gas to make electricity, then lose a fair amount of it during transmission, then use it in your electric car...

I'm sure it's more efficient to have a modern clean burning gasoline car. But what would I know I drive a 43 year old polluter.

Unicorns will dance and angels will sing when the world is one driving only electric cars. Just you wait and see.

First, just like having a gas gauge, EVs have a charge or battery gauge. I can only speak to Teslas because that is what I own but my car's GPS will try to stop me when I have less than 100 miles of charge and I am farther than 100 miles from my destination. It also adds the charger as a stop point in the GPS directions. On my Tesla App, I also have roadside assistance, if needed.

That said: There are a few mobile charging services popping up. You can have them come on a schedule and charge your car regularly or in emergency situations. Here is one of those companies in Canada but there are a couple in the US for anyone interested: EV Fast

I am a CA born and raised man. We left the Bay Area due to all of the "woke" fools who insist on putting their politics in everyone else's face. We now live in a nice area of Auburn where the smallest lots are 2.3 acres. That is perfect because none of our neighbors are close to us. We have 3 acres and most neighbors have that much or a bit more. Only 7 of us on the court. We are all conservatives and just want to live life with out the "woke" BS.

CA does not have the power grid for what Newsom wants to do. Where do apartment tenants charge their cars? Who installs charging ports at their specific car port stall? How do they secure that charger so thugs don't steal electricity? We already for the past several years are told to limit energy use from 5 to 8 PM, right when one gets home from work and wants to relax, watch TV, turn on the AC, cook and maybe do laundry. Now let's convert all cars in CA to electric and then when will those be charged? I hate to say it but the Dems have no insight into the real world. All just pipe dreams while they get high and pay for everything with taxpayer money.

On the plus side, the more EVs people buy, the less demand for gas, and hopefully, the price drops as demand goes down.

It's going to be totally awesome!

Think of all the good things coming, like no traffic. Just like restricted watering days, soon you will only be allowed to charge on a schedule. No charge to get to work? Day off/late start.

The impact is going to be bigly.

I'm curious, if you let the EV, say a tesla, sit, no charging, how long does it take before it's dead?

Nothing really.

California is making vehicles over certain age replace the motor or sell the vehicle out of state. This has a salubrious effect on the availability and price of big rig trucks everywhere in the country that is not named California.

I think you need to go into the business of selling PowerWalls for apartments with financing for people with little to no credit!

What bugs me most is that this move to EVs is considered "green". It really just moves the silly approach of a single person rolling around in a 2 ton vehicle from fossil to electric fuel. There is no serious effort to create public transportation that is viable or even multi-use trails that run along major commute routes. So we are forced to partake in the madness, to me it matters little if it is in an EV or an IC car.

I can't remember the FIRST time that the politicians have accepted responsibility for a utility system that is not even close to being able to handle demand unless the conditions are perfect

"Green" LOL. Rare earth minerals, toxic wasted from batteries that are no longer viable, and power generation from anything but green sources. There just aren't enough butterfly wings and unicorn farts to create the amount of power needed.

That's the landlords problem and if they do it smart it's an additional revenue stream.

While you are sleeping.

Honestly when did this country turn into such a pessimistic we suck bunch.

This the ****ing United States.

When we decided to do something we just went and did it.

Only took us 66 years to go from Kitty Hawk to the moon and that's because one dude said "we're gonna be the 1st to do it" so we just went and did it.
