I might be insane… Cayenne related

So I traded the dirt bike for that 04 Cayenne S early this summer and despite needing to fix more than I bargained for, it’s a really sweet vehicle to drive. My wife and I really like it.

Then a few weeks ago, I bought myself a 06 Cayenne Turbo that’s an 8/10 and needed a few things. It had 2 previous owners and unfortunately the guy I got it from was in over his head. I have almost everything addressed on it now and it drives awesome. I’ve already put 3000 kms (2000 miles on it). On the highway, it gets great mileage and is a real treat to drive.

I’ve been looking for a better example of a Cayenne for my wife and have looked at a bunch of them, including a nice low mile 09 Turbo S with the panoramic sunroof last night but sadly it had the engine tick.

Today, my son texted me from school a recently listed 06 Turbo S with low mileage… we didn’t mention it to my wife and went and looked at it tonight. The 2 previous owners didn’t appear to have kids in it. It’s nearly perfect. Full service records, and I bought it. It has been meticulously maintained and doesn’t have the engine tick (the mileage is low enough it could still develop so fingers crossed). The only issue is that the PCM unit is non op.

So now I have 3. The 04 Cayenne S will be going up for sale here shortly. It has a good engine, drives really nice, and had that gorgeous tan interior with the burl accents… and the AC blows cold!

I told my son to quit looking at Cayennes for sale. Oh, and my wife gets the Silver Turbo. I’m taking the Black Turbo S.

You are becoming the pepper whisperer 😁 . I have never driven one but I admit I wouldn't mind owning one . Good luck with the new purchase .

A well known Porsche engine builder told me the Cayenne V8 bottom end is bulletproof. Very well designed/built . That's a good looking vehicle.

Go get a Gen 2/92A next. I sometimes think about mine. Just had to give it up for garage space.

I am on my 2nd Cayenne. I got up to 170,000 miles on the 2008, and I just passed 80,000 miles on the 2014. The first one did not give any major issues besides the known driveshaft support failure and needing a new valve cover for a failed PCV valve, but the 2nd one needed a new transfer case (under warranty), then a new front differential ($5k installed, ouch!). Both were V6, at least the engine is bulletproof. I get decent mileage (20-24 mpg).

I once did almost the same thing with Miata's...soon had two nearly identical ones '99 in my driveway.. wife just scratched her head..if i got a third i would've been in big trouble.
I think you are onto something...
