We lived in a neighborhood for about 17-18 years. I don't think we had nicknames for them. We knew the 3 neighbors (either side and across the street) as they had lived in the house when my wife lived in the house as a teen. When the first one moved, we knew their replacements (same first names as us). THat was more than I wanted/needed to know any neighbors.
Now we live in a rural setting. We've probably got 4 neighbors within 1/2 mile. Last Sat we finally met the closest neighbors. We met the furthest earlier this year when they harvested the hay from the field next to our property and the grandsons watched (they love tractors). We will probably never meet the other two because we'd probably drive there. We did have a nickname for one lady near the apt where we lived before here. She was "crazy cat lady." The "crazy" and "cat" both fit to a T.

'capon lady' was as good as we got, woman across the street had the fire trucks come for a visit as the butter bubbled over the capon she was cooking....she moved away, but the "capon lady house" keeps the name.

Hmmm...no nicknames around here, so I guess that means the neighbors have nicknames for us.
I know every one of our neighbors (and their dogs) by name and we all get along. Sounds like that must be rare nowadays... |

Thats some funny stuff guys! I will say this we didnt know hardly any neighbors for about 15 years living here until I started being the neighborhood fixit guy. I think I counted about 60 customers now and thats mostly just on my road. Sometimes we have words but they keep coming back with money so I must be doing something wrong

I live in a small surf town called Lyall Bay, and evidently my nickname is "The mayor of Lyall Bay".

We refer to everyone by their first names. However three doors down there is a family we call the communicators. They can't talk with each other, only scream. A mom and two grown sons, neither with a steady job. She complains that she can't visit her family in Iran because she does not trust leaving the boys home alone. If she takes them with her she is afraid they will be drafted into the Iranian arm. I figure it would be the best possible solution for those two.

This reminds me of a book I used to read to my kids long ago
It was about the Pigs and the Boars and the fact they didn't get along so well, until they did at the end of the book
