That is definitely a 24V AC wall wart.
The problem is that most wall wart transformers have the cord connected to the transformer, and the item has the socket. In this case, the wire comes from the TREE and the wall wart has the socket. Those are uncommon, especially being 24V AC output.

You are correct and there will probably be some splicing in my future.

Yes I'm also having a hard time finding an AC to DC adapter.

AC to AC.

Something like this should work:

Try A-1 Electronics in Etobicoke. They should have what you're looking for. I needed something similar a few years ago. It's 15 minutes from my old house.

Drrr, I missed that as well..

Rod, they also make outlet plug in transformers with 24VAC output with built in fusing. On Amazon for around 15-18 bucks
