Actually, that started before Bill sold it. The reasoning behind it was too many people would show up, so they raised the prices to cut out the rifraf.
The Palace Saloon is interesting.

Thanks! It's a 17 hour drive down so I think I'll leave on Saturday morning and drive to Savannah, stay the night, hit Amelia on Sunday and then on to Orlando. BMW has 248K miles, will be interesting to see how it does.

Everything in FL is high priced now...even more than the normal spring prices.
Headed there next month, but only once this spring.

The same thing's been happening at Pebble Beach. I thought when tix hit $100 some years back that it would thin the crowd a bit. No way! Now a GA ticket will set you back $475 and it's more crowded than ever.

Loading day for part of the Charlotte Porsche contingent in front of Hendrick Porsche. A 917, my Mexico Blue RSR "touring" build and a beautiful Navy 996 turbo in the lower right of the 2nd picture.

Thanks for the compliment, but it won't be shown on Sunday. That day is for the truly historic and $$$$$ cars. It will be shown Friday at the Werks reunion, Saturday AM at the Cars and Caffeine event on the lawn near the Ritz and again Saturday PM at the Hangar Amelia event near Bent Wing Flight Services.

I should only be there on Sunday morning to see the Speedster I did work for, then off to Orlando to pick up some sport seats and then back home. Have to get a ticket now.

Those ticket prices are eye-wateringly crazy - to see a static car display no less. I know, apples & oranges, but the Roar Before the 24 was $25, the Trans Am & SVRA race was $10 last Friday and even the 12 Hours of Sebring + the WEC 1000 is $125 for a 4-day ticket - to see race cars actually racing Get off my lawn.

Shaun, technically, you have TWO cars at Amelia that you worked on. Look for me at the concours or prowling the garage at the Ritz on Sunday.

Hey Trent, you are right! Two amazing cars! I should also look for a 914-6 I did the anodizing for at Parade last year that took 299.3 points.

I will definitely look for you.

Yep, I was going up today, parking $40, but my friend Simon had some tickets for me to some of the seminars and a band for the auction. Just as I was about to leave, my dentist called me to tell me that my new crown came in early (a week early) and they could get me in at 3, so I did the adult thing.

Cars and Caffeine was yesterday AM and it was cool to be on the actual concourse grounds, but they parked all the Porsche's together, so it was sorta like a rehash of PCA event the day before -plus it rained during the event. Later last evening was the Hangar Event. Somehow my Mexico Blue build got accepted into it. As I told a buddy, someone must have dropped out as I am pretty sure I was a "plan B" car and the only "home garage" car on the tarmac, except for maybe the wooden pedal car. Singers, Pagani's, Bugatti's, private jets and P-51's.

The event was pretty epic for a number of reasons including getting to tail the 917 back to the transporters in the dark last night. As we pulled up to the transporter parking area, Dirk - the owner and driver - slowed and lifted the hatch to get some breeze into the car. It was at that moment I took my shot and PASSED a 917! Dirk was doing probably 2 or 3 mph but I sill manged to overtake him cleanly. I laughingly pointed that fact out to him as our cars were being loaded and he retorted; "true, but on the race track.....". I have ZERO doubts about what Dirk would do to me on the track.

Anyway, here's some pics.
