The world needs a website run by mechanics

Something like Consumer Review with CarComplaints.com but with reviews for b.s. new features such as electronic parking brakes, ease of working on common parts, trends of manufacturers, etc.

Centrailized. Limited text allowed like twit to read through everything fast. Easy to use. Ratings buttons or some other quick feature. Get the total run down on a vehicle fast instead of reading about a major flaw later on in the comments section.

Just an idea.(and yes I realize we are on one of those)

You probably already have the platform — ASE.

ASE can't manage their own website properly. Also their tests are riddled with misspellings...

You noticed that? The tests also have mistakes that I have had to formally correct ASE on in writing. They hate me because they have to go back and proof tests taken by others who in turn actually got the correct answer but was scorred incorrectly.

ASE has some positive stuff though. The 1 hour weekly free webinars are good and don't have to go through a paywall for informationals. The subject matter has value.

Testing Centers: I use Glendale and Camarillo. The Glendale Center is like a Federal Prison. Emty your pockets, body cavity search, no phones, they watch you enter and exit the restroom. I re-cert 5-7 tests at a single sitting. The woman at the testing center freaks out and is telling me nobody does that and she cant stay until midnight. Then she literally sits in a chair behind me watching over my shoulder and I am the only one in the test chamber. They think you have cheat notes written in invisible ink inside a water bottle, have to put that in the locker too. They are really paranoid.

The service industry, (in general across all services) would benefit from an opportunity to leave reviews of customers....

We are very fortunate to have earned a very loyal and easy to deal with customer base, but I read reviews left by people at places I am considering patronizing and am left in shock sometimes...

Cheers

Jeff ^^ agree - side bar to OP for a moment.........I've been Master Certified since 1982 when it was NIASE. In the past 3-4 years as I take additional tests and recert, I've noticed an increase in not providing correct answer group and or misspellings. I've contacted them politely on several occasions and received "0" interest in any discussions to resolve that.

I got the MC last century as a condition of apprenticeship doing dum-dum fleet work, but never got the wall placard. In retrospect I'm not sure if all of the journeymen mechanics were. Some were whip smart whom I had great respect for. Some spent their entire career keeping hands warm over coffee with the bosses. It was entirely a 'who' not 'what' environment and the day wasn't supposed to end with the second time card stamp. I'll stop there.

Yeah...ASE questions...

#26. Judy realized her car is overheating and is making noise.
a.) The thermostat has failed
b.) The radiator is partially blocked.
c). The catalytic converter has partially clogged
d). None of the above.

So is Judy driving in winter Alaska? A lead foot? Did the thermostat fail closed? What is 'partially'? What is 'noise' ie drive belt?

Agree. Would be nice to have a clue before a customer buys one and then it ends up on a Car Wizard or Scotty Kilmer YouTube vid in four years saying never buy one of these.
