There are lots of other rumors around here about his next career. You can prob guess as to what.
Keep in mind...money is not an issue.

He always said he'd quit when it stopped being fun and this past season was definitely anything but fun.

He has all the stats-- Played for one of the All time great teams longer than anyone else--a big reason they were who they were. But .'''''.......
But for the sake of argument if you had one game and one guy to be your QB would it be TB.?? He did well in the modern era --- but how'd he be in the ERA of Johnny Unitas. When they routinely hit the QB after he let fly. In todays game I'd have to really think about Mahomes. And if say Marino in his youth was transplanted to the Patriots --would he not have been just as good if not better??? There are no right answers obviously.

For years I thought Montana was the best ....
Then I thought Brady became his equal.... Then he played at the top of his game until he was 45 and won a few more SBs. The modern QBs are just better than in decades past imo. Mahomes is special too ... and if he can perform at his level for 15+ more years and have even close to 7 rings... Then we can talk ![]() |

I get it but the Steelers of the 70s were the greatest of all time. Yes they--the Pats- have more rings but those Steelers played against the best in the golden era of the NFl. Defense still mattered. They went from run centric to vertical passing.
the bias to offence has changed the game to the point I'm boarded watching. Of course I'm an old guy ---OK gotta get back to the home.

There seems to be a "golden era" in every sport and it's usually the era you remember as your personal golden era as well.

Make Bruins Great Again
|
It is sad when an elite athlete doesn't step down when they are at the top (or shortly after they start to decline). It is downright pitiful when they go out like Brady did as a whiny drama queen who's antics are better suited for Jerry Springer or the National Inquirer. He destroyed the lasting memory of his career.
As with Crosby, great player but doesn't improve the class average of humanity.

I think the game, like in most athletic competitions, has changed because the athletes have changed.
They are generally bigger (and at the same time leaner), faster, more agile, just all around better physical specimens on both sides of the ball. That is going to change how the game gets played.

Good luck convincing me that, given access to all of the things modern-day players enjoy, guys like Wilt Chamberlain, Bob Lilly, Ted Williams and so many others wouldn't be as dominant today as they were so many decades ago. The greats would be great in any age ... period. _

There are athletic exceptions, but over-all there is no comparison.... bigger, taller, faster, stronger.
Wilt was a 7'er amongst smaller competition and he and Bill Russell would be just fine today. But Wilt wouldn't score 100 points and miss 25 free throws in a game either ![]() Last edited by KFC911; 02-02-2023 at 03:20 AM.. |

Wilt claimed he slept with 20,000 women
![]() During that timeframe, he saw Wilt go to his room with 23 different women. Wilt used this 2.3 per day figure to extrapolate his number of sexual partners over the years and arrive at the humongous, barely believable figure of 20,000 women who he'd shared a bed with.
