I really enjoyed watching the GTD Pro and GTD run by themselves yesterday at Lime Rock . What a cool track . I would love to drive that track in either of my Porsche's .

Weather was great and it looked like a huge crowd showed up . The announcers said Lime Rock is the 3rd oldest road course in the US . Overall it was a great 3 hours of racing .

I heard that..which made me wonder what the top two are. Agreed, fun to watch without the fast boys..

Sebring is the oldest at 1950. I think Watkins Glen is 2nd at 1953?

Imsa 2023

Woke up to news that Paul Miller Racing with their BMW GT3, my home town favorites, are moving up to GTD Pro.

Trying to understand the difference between IMSA and WEC, what would keep them from trying to compete on the world stage, is it just $?

That was probably the best weather I have experienced at RA. Seeing the new surface really makes me want to suit up and race again.

Pet Peeve with the new Hypercars is the hocus-pocus don't look behind the curtain 'energy' refilling during pit stops. They put the fuel in, which takes a few seconds, and they tell us ... "we're just waiting on the 'energy' now" There is no energy being added to the cars. There is no battery being charged. There's nothing. The cars are hybrids and generate energy while they're running. They track the electric power used and there's some complicated formula related to that and the hold in the pits. They even keep the fuel hose attached after the fuel is in to further the illusion. They want to give the illusion that the cars are being charged like the EVs we'll all be forced to drive soon. I get it. IMSA has to keep the manufacturers happy.

Totally with you there I noticed that change, and was wondering if they plug in a fast charger or something ? nope... it's silly

This article states megajoules ARE being replenished during the pit stop . Triggered by the insertion of the fuel hose . It's about halfway down in the article when they talk about what happens during a pit stop with the hybrid GTP cars .

Whichever is correct, fuel and and high voltage connection are not too compatible in my mind.

Like I said, it's hocus-pocus. The "megajoules being replenished" by the fuel hose probe is simply a timer calculating how long to hold the car based on how long they used the battery power on track. There is no electricity going into the car. As the article states, it's all virtual ('fake' would be a more accurate word).

2024 Lamborghini on track.

Finally, the Hypercars are back in action. 6Hrs of Fuji. Interesting for sure, both Porsches and Cadillac qualified ahead of the Ferraris!

Penske Porsche was leading for aprox 4 hours but finished 3rd behind both Toyotas . Ferrari finished 4th and 5th . Cadillac had some issues .

Solid progress by Porsche. The car looked strong and, according to the Toyota drivers, was fast on the straights which made it difficult for them to pass. Not sure what happened to Ferrari -- lackluster weekend all the way around for them.
