I remember I was in Mexico one summer and the biggest, hugest song they kept playing down there over and over and over and over was Steve Miller's "Abracadabra" It was everywhere...
I could not make it go away from in my head. It was a brain worm.

Here, have a taste... I want to share...

It got me thinking that sometimes, our initial reaction to a song can be influenced by our mood or what's going on in our lives at that moment. And when you hear a song repeatedly, it can become a sort of comfort or nostalgia, even if you never thought you'd like it.
By the way, if you or your brother are into making music and want to give your songs a boost, there are services like https://songlifty.com/spotify-promotion/ that can help with marketing campaigns.

Interesting post. One post about every 2 years.

I've never liked Springsteens stuff and they still play it to death.

Thanks for reminding me of BS. My dislike of his music began around the time an LA Times music critic, Robert Hilburn, began touting him as the music messiah while at the same time denigrating the bands I liked. The overplay of BS on the radio was another contributing factor.

This morning I woke up with the song "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow in my head. What did I do to deserve that? I haven't heard the song in years. Didn't want to.

Did y'all know Lynyrd Skynyrd only recorded three songs? When you pass thru Jax you could probably hear them all on the radio :D

I have come to loathe Stairway to Heaven. If it comes on the radio I change stations.

in my first year of art school, I lived at school in an apartment with three roommates, two of which were in my program. So we all spent a lot of time at our drawing tables. One of them played the 'Braveheart' and 'Titanic' soundtracks about 9000 times. I've never listened to either since, and I might be triggered if I heard them.

Years ago in my current job before we got our own offices, one of my coworkers had a radio at his desk that played contemporary country every minute that he was at the office. I was mildly traumatized by the 'Red Solo cup' song and, again, might be triggered if I ever heard it again. Which, fortunately, I haven't.

The Police "Every breath you take, every move you make, I'll be watching you"
Bad song.

I could rip the radio out of my car when I hear that song!!

Any Chicago song makes me turn the channel faster than you can say.....

I was working at Magic Mountain in the early 70's. While sitting in the employee cafeteria, someone came in and walked to the juke box and spent a few minutes there. Then he left.
Kung Fu Fighting then played 7 times before I left.
Not favorite song, not that it was good at the time.

Most of these songs are good tunes that the radio ruined by overplaying them.
I don't want to hear Hotel California for another year but at one time it was the best.
Springsteen, Collins and N. Youngs voice grate on me. ughhh....
Gimme some Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. Someday I will hate hearing it but not yet.

On a trip through the Rockies a couple of decades back, we stopped at a grocery store in Penticton for some road food. My daughter spotted a display with a bunch of toys that looked like hamsters dressed in different outfits. She chose one in martial arts get up with something resembling a numchuck. When activated, it played "Kung Foo Fighting" and the numchuck spun. It kept her amused on our way to the coast and she still has it.
I never liked the song before that and can't say the experience improved my attitude.
