Delta Air Lines has been forced to remind thousands of prospective flight attendants who are currently going through the Atlanta-based carrier’s latest recruitment drive that they must wear “proper undergarments” that aren’t visible in their interview.

The reminder was sent out in a leaked two-page document entitled “appearance requirements acknowledgment,” which explains in detail what candidates should look like when they turn up for an in-person assessment by Delta’s recruiters.

As well as telling applicants that “proper undergarments must be worn but must not be visible,” the document also reminds potential new-hire flight attendants that they should not use profanity during their interview and that chewing gum isn’t permitted throughout the assessment day.

The underwear thing seems odd. I assume there weren't folks doing the "Basic Instinct" cooch flash during an interview, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the main target is bras?

And I don't remember "visible" undergarments being a thing recently (except bra straps). I do remember when thongs out of the top of pants was a thing. I think that was 25 years ago.

One common "fashion" I see a lot in some women is deliberately visible bra straps. I don't understand it any more than facial piercings, or huge areas of tattoos. But I am just an old grumpy man.

My now retired wife fight this continually with her staff at the eight medical clinics she managed. Not so much the RN's and LPN's, but the MA's (medical assistants) seemed to like to wear thongs and really skimpy (or sometimes no) bras. Not so bad when they wore the baggy blue scrubs, but they often wore tighter fitting white (almost see through) scrubs. Bright pink, blue, black, etc. thongs were very visible through the white pants. One could often see their nipple rings right through their scrubs, as well as the nipple through which they were mounted. Absolutely unprofessional in a clinic that saw mostly children (it was an asthma and allergy practice). She actually fired a few over this.

Other than my wife (or on a military base), I rarely see a woman under 200 lbs (or man under 250) ...even if 5 ft tall. Even those morbidly obese dress as if they think mountains of flabby, pierced and tattooed exposed flesh is sexy. Apparently wearing pajamas and slippers (or crocs) to the store is a thing too. I dress better to work on my car or cut weeds...and would not go out into public (or answer the doorbell) like that. A diet and some exercise would actually improve their appearance for a lot less money. Please don't show me any more modern "fashion" or your underwear.

where is this clinic, especially now that your wife isn't there to keep things in check.

Where did she retire from...any particular clinic more egregious than others?

And I am not asking for a friend

I went out with a former flight attendant that got her commission and then went to flight school in the Navy, where we met.

She was an excellent pilot and has flown for a major carrier for decades...she went east coast Navy, I went westpac.

She and I over-lapped in San Diego together for three months and I met all her AA flight attendant friends from her days as an FA...they know and see things we don't.

No thongs in sight, just really nice folks...the 80's.

Not doubting your observation, but where the heck do you live? Most people around me aren't fat, let alone obese.
