Car door won’t unlock manually or with key fob. Door won’t open.

In a slight fit of rage, I kicked the door from the outside at the latch which must’ve jarred the lock loose and the effing thing opened. I’m grateful and happy I didn’t have to cut up the door panel. I took apart the components and placed an order for the actuator. In the meantime and for probably a few days after the repair, I’m going to leave the panel off, just in case. Luckily, Amazon has replacement parts for the Toyota Sequoia and it’s only $20 for an actuator.

LOL! Reminds me of a scene in "The Longst Day" A Brit mini tank wouldn't start on the beach...a Sgty gave it a whack with his walking stick...it started.

Sometimes, a good whack does the trick. Love it...

I really do not think that the actuator is the problem, if it was you would have been able to manually unlock it from the inside, now that the door is open make sure everything in the latch mechanism is moving freely, possibly a spray with lube.

The actuator plastics look brittle and the latch/lock assemblies are gummed up with 20 years of farm dirt and dust. I blew them out with air and sprayed down with brake clean. Then I put drops of teflon oil on all the moving parts. I didn't have any white lithium grease. I'm still going to replace the actuator because that's that moves the lock plus it's only 20 bucks. Everything was just really caked in dirt.

I suggest this lube. It's dielectric. Lives up to it's name. Sold in most autoparts stores, bought my tube from the local NAPA. Anyway, great stuff...far superior to lithium. How superior? Snap-on uses it as their ratchet lube. I used it on some of my old ratchets, super smooth now.

My 86 El Camino has manual roll up windows and manual locks. When we go out anywhere, 99% of the time it is in the Elky. As we return to the car, I often unlock the passenger door and open it for her, or I have to leave her standing there as I get in, and lean over to unlock the door.

If we happen to be in the 911, the door locks are automatic. She sometimes stands there a few seconds before she realizes the door is unlocked already.

I have been driving since 1970 I have never needed to replace a battery in my keys, ever!

This thread reminds me about a BMW sedan I saw this week on the highway. The lock cylinder was taken out of the trunk. The emergency release cable for the trunk was sticking out of the hole.

I'm guessing they probably had a screwdriver in the ignition as well.
