Home AC Soft Start
Anyone using a Soft Start kit on their home central AC? You would be able to run your AC with a generator in case of a power failure and it is supposed to be easier on the motor and components since the in rush amperage is cut by 25-33%
I'm pondering installing one as part of my pre-retirement projects. Cheers

My geothermal has a soft start on the compressor motor.
It failed after about 8 1/2 years, but the system has a 10 year warranty. The kid who came to replace it looked at me like I was some sort of wizard when I told him as I met him at the front door "The soft start failed", but still proceeded to poke around on the unit for 10 or 15 minutes before coming to the same conclusion. |

Yes.
I use Sure Start. Hyper Engineering | Single Phase There are several online companies selling them. I have used them on both single stage and two-stage Air Conditioners.

Interesting.
Soft start can be added onto a system (retrofit)? Do some systems come with it from the factory?
