So the largest rocket ever was really just a big fireworks display.
That has to be an expensive failure. Rockets are hard to get perfect, and they have to be perfect. The James Webb Telescope had a possible 344 single points of failure. Any one of those points of failure would have made the entire thing a monument to failure. Yet it came out spectacularly amazing and is changing the world's human knowledge of how the universe works. It was also spectacularly over-budget and expensive and delayed. But perfection is expensive.

According to SpaceX there was no explosion; the rocket merely experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly. Nothing to see here.

Impressive that this thing was larger and more powerful (quite a bit) with a larger payload and passenger capacity than the Saturn V. And the plan is for this thing to be reusable unlike the Saturn V

The next test should be using a night launch.

That has to be THE most annoying audio for any rocket launch I have ever heard. Cheering for the explosion? WTF.

So, the plan was to get the thing at least 300' in the air (or however tall the tower is) and anything after that was gravy. It launched and got way up there and did a couple of flips. That's a success.

I don’t know if that was a consideration in calculating what a success would be. It seems flushing $3b to get a rocket 300’ in the air doan make no sense. |

Looks like they have some engine cooling issues.
But WOW that looked heavy. So slow to clear the tower.
