It’s been a rough couple days

This was my ‘office’ on Thursday night…

I am supposed to be chaperoning a grade 7/8 camping trip right now. I spent a few hours at the camp, did the climbing wall, had supper and decided my chest pains really needed to be checked out.

I went to the hospital in the small town near the camp where I had a couple ecg’s and was out on a nitro drip before being transported to a hospital in a larger city.

I have had probably 15 ecg’s now and an echocardiogram.

I’m off the nitro now and either had another cardiac event last night or bad transition from the nitro to the patch and new meds.

I’m going to yet another hospital today for an angiogram and then back here.

I have residual markers from a heart attack that are decreasing but the ecg’s are normal and the echocardiogram came back ‘good’.

It is not clear what is going on. Hopefully the angiogram sheds some light on this today… it could be pericarditis but that should not have come back hard like it did last night.

I know some of you guys have had heart trouble before… thoughts?

^that^

Glad you manned up and went to get checked versus trying to "walk it off."

Live to fight another day.

Glad that there's nothing huge and obvious. Best wishes and prayers that they eventually find that you just had bad gas or heartburn or something innocuous.

Feel better, sir!

It is wonderful to live in an era when chest pains can be checked out, hopefully the issue will be fixed, and you get back to a long life. Not many years ago, chest pains were just a death sentence.

Get well soon!

Difficult to spit ball without your health and medication histories (understandable if you're reluctant to post them) but Prinzmetal angina is a possibility. GERD is another. Did the nitroglycerin infusion quickly resolve your chest pain? Were your cardiac enzyme levels elevated? Normal ECG and echo are encouraging findings. Cardiac cath should yield good information to guide treatments.

It’s not GERD. I’ve had GERD in the past and am on Dexilant for it. This is GERD X 1,000,000.

I’ve been on hypertension meds since my mid 30s. Not overweight and physically active just very susceptible to stress. Current BP meds are Olmetec Plus (40/25) and Amlodopine (5mg).

Nitro quickly took care of the pain and when I came off it, I felt normal.

I think I had a cardiac event on Sunday night and chalked it up to muscle pain or arthritis. Then things were good with minor chest pain. I drove to my son’s camping trip and things were ‘ok’. My plan was to get checked out when I had time.

I did make it 2/3 of the way up the climbing wall at the camp and then things got angry… I had supper and drank water and things never settled down, I drove myself (quite quickly) to the small town hospital and this started the path I’m on now.

Damned glad you're still with us Billy. Hope the experts get a handle on this and a good course to follow is soon.

Younger guys...damnit, quit doing these old age things! Leave that stuff to we who have lived long enough to deserve 'em.

Not knowing can be stressful too. Glad you got medical attention.
Thinking about you and hoping for a quick recovery.

Best from the East Coast.

Maybe just angina and not a full on heart attack?

Hope things work out for you.
Me, I ended up with a quad bypass. Went in early Monday morning (like 2AM early), had surgery on Tuesday morning and was going home to recuperate on Thursday afternoon. Spent New Years 2021 in the cardiac ICU.

My angiogram is tomorrow so that should shed some light on what’s going on. Currently, I feel pretty good. I’m hoping the angiogram provides some answers and we can move forward with a good plan. I’m also hoping to learn why I’ve had high blood pressure since my mid 30’s…
