Am I in Texas?
Pic taken a few minutes ago.
Hard to believe it's changed so fast from a couple weeks back. ![]()

Wow, it's only 86º here right now. You win. I don't mind losing in this sort of contest.
I think our high today is only supposed to be 89º.

Terrible weather this year if you are a gardener. It got warm for a week in April and everything started to bloom. Then it got cold and dark and everything stopped. We will have no peaches. The seed potatos and the first planting of beans and corn rotted in the ground. The onions are so far behind I don't think they'll get bigger than a golf ball. They are green sticks and days are long enough for them to start bulbing out. OTOH the garlic is doing great!!

It's extremely dry here....next to no rain at all for May.
My lawn is brown and crispy.

All in the 60's here. 62 at night, almost 70 for an hour or 2 afternoon. We are supposed to get a hot summer. Mostly summer is high 80's; low 90's starting in August. By Sept it should hit 100 a few times if this follows the typical yearly pattern. We've had many Halloween's that were well into the 90's.
Over 85 and I'm hiding in the A/C areas. Except for mornings, I can be inside for a whole month and never want to go outside. And then another month will come along. This is the best time of year ever. Haven't seen the sun in 2 weeks. |

Very dry here. I've been up watering plants that won't grow every other morning for two weeks.
![]() The first planting of onions rotted in the ground. The second plating is just sitting there. They are brown sticks and ought to be 18" tall by now. ![]() The first planting of corn got about 40% germination. I replanted and that is doing better, but not by much. ![]() OTOH the garlic and salad gardens are doing great.

My a/c is always set at 75. The unit you see in the pic is sitting in the south window directly in the sun. The sender unit for the outside temp is about 20 feet away on the underside of my deck shaded from the sun. Any cooler than 75 inside and I'm looking for a sweatshirt or jacket. Winter setting is 71

Cold here in the 60s. I miss the sun, not that I can go out to ride my bike due to bum knee. the heat will be here soon enough. Sitting through a graduation in the mid-high 60s is unusual.

We set the A/C at 79º during the day while inside. At night maybe 74. That regimen is $400/mo. I live in a 1930 stucco house with barely R30 in the attic and a white roof with an attic fan. It's the best I can do.
I lied about being hidden. I will work in the garage with fans until it gets to 90. Then I have to quit. When pressed I have worked in the garage at 95. After a couple hours of that, I drink water and then about 3 beers. |

Get off my lawn!

Geezer voice: In 12 years of school, I never once went to a single school that was air conditioned. And I attended schools in Hawaii, San Marcos TX, Montgomery, AL and Oklahoma City, OK. I can remember sweating so much that sweat dripping from my nose or forehead fell on my test paper, and smudged my answer. My shirt was saturated from wiping sweat off my face. And then we had to ride our bikes to get home. End Geezer voice. All 100% true. The schools in Hawaii did not even have heat. One day we hit 56 degrees. Everyone laughs at a low of 56. But when there are no coats, no blankets, and you are stuck in 56 degree temps wearing two layers of clothes it is cold! There were no inside halls to get from class to class, everything was just a covered patio style walkway and totally outside with just a roof to keep rain off of us. We asked dad to drive us around in the car with the heater on just to get warm!

Colder than a well digger's ass in SoCal. 61 degrees right now and I have the little space heater blowing on my bare feet. Highs in the 60s. Haven't seen the sun for weeks it seems. Just overcast and cold!
I know that summer will arrive here at some point and it will be hot but this is unusual, to say the least. I heard on the radio yesterday while driving that NASA just put out a color-coded temp map of the planet and absolutely everywhere was red for hotter than normal except one little small patch of blue and it was southern California. I've been running the heat in the car at least once every day for months. I'm about to go to the midwest and steam in the heat and humidity, really not looking forward to it. There is a reason why people live here, (actually many reasons), but the summer weather in the rest of the country is as much a reason as the winter weather in the rest of the country. ![]()

Get off my lawn!

I recently had to replace the compressor on my 911 after many years the nose seal started to leak, and I know the compressor was getting worn.
To really test the cooling, it needs to be hot, high 90s and full sun. We have yet to hit 90 in OKC this year. I keep waiting for a good hot day to go for test drive to make sure the pressures are ideal. Hard to do that when it is in the 70s. Went for a test drive in mid 80s and was about to freeze to death in the car. ![]() With the fan blowing at hurricane speed, the little tiny vent was down to near freezing. I sure hope we can get to some 95 or hotter temps before my trip to Palm Springs. That will test the AC, but no way to tweak it on the road. ![]() The return line is certainly keeping the compressor cool.

It's great that your A/C is working well but how would you "tweak it" on the road? It's hard to believe that Porsche ever put such a tiny vent for A/C in the car...I've seen bigger ones for clearing a vent window with defrost.

Been a beautiful spring thus far in Arizona. A little bit of rain, a whole lot of sun. The desert is beautifully green and our little garden and flower beds are looking wonderful. ![]()
