I've also spent plenty of time around real explosives so I know a "kerplewie" from a "sparkleyfizzypoofy". And - depending on what metals you're also shooting (uranium for example) you get a fireworks show as well.

Last fourth of July we were at the Sheraton far atop the hill between Lakewood and Golden CO. It was cool to see all of the local displays across most of Denver, including one close to the hotel. What blew me away was the hundreds of thousands of dollars the "citizens" were popping off everywhere. Spending 1/5000 of that at the manky mex joint on drinks was far more pleasurable...
Those sparklers are freakin bright! I dont like them its like welding with no mask. I hope you make her wear sunglasses. I like snakes theyre nice and tame

A farmer friend of mine uses Tannerite to get rid of old tree stumps.
Some folks use it for shooting "Reactive targets"

I have a smaller canon but can’t find the measure of powder to use, how did you determine the amount?

I live a mile from "Boom City" in east Marysville. Been hearing it all week.

Depends on bore size and if you are just packing a wad to give some back pressure and hold powder in place vs. launching an actual ball/slug/etc

Years ago for July 4th. when the kids were small, we used to light several hundred dollars worth of fireworks. Mostly the mortar type. The moms sat far back with the kids and the dads lit everything up. Fireworks are legal here and you hear them a lot around Fourth of July and New Year’s.

It’s been 20 years since we did it. Nowadays, I’m just about to fall asleep when they really start going off. Doesn’t bother me. Zzzzzz….

Grins, I'm highly scientific in that I use an old 35mm film canister, filled half way or full, pour powder down the barrel and use a wooden tamping rod to put wadding in.

Around 15 years ago...we had a bunch of friends over for fireworks....mostly the mortar type.
The Chinese staple the fuse to the side of the mortar so that it can only be dropped in the correct way...but one of the guys still managed to insert it upsided down and light it.

I noticed right away the fire blasting out of the top of the tube and yelled. The explosion for the display ripped thru the tube with no problem and spread a ring of fire about 30ft in a circle.
No one was hurt, but that was the end of that.

We used to do that with bottle rockets and garbage can lids.

I have to say it's been uncharacteristically quiet here in the 'hood this year.
I'm sure that'll change in the next few days.

They have been banned in my community for some time now.

Over the years we’ve had a couple acres of our golf course catch fire and one year my neighbor down the street set his neighbors lawn on fire resulting in that neighbors dad suffering a cardiac episode, dad lived, barely.

People still set stuff off.

Two years ago the guy 3 houses down had a roman candle misfire that lit up his brand new truck and started a minor fire inside his garage that we thankfully were able to extinguish quickly.

They are fun but I gotta admit not really appropriate for the typical suburban neighborhood.
