I wonder if the caliper mounting arrangment ( how the bolts hold the caliper to the knuckle ) came from the need for quicker brake changes during racing . That is awesome. 2 bolts a brake line , a quick bleed, and you're off .

When looking at Aeroquip or similar fittings, I’ve seen quick disconnect brake lines, and wondered about them. I was thought that a small amount of air would be introduced when disconnecting and reconnecting. I suppose a couple of quick pumps of the brakes to bleed them and it would be good.

That said, that was not their first rodeo and they feel comfortable in doing it and the driver using them.

Back when there was Trans-am racing here and domestic manufactures got involved, one particular standout ( cheating? ) was the AMC team who used P 917 disc brake setup all 'way round on their Javelins. They had AMC purchase them under contract from Porsche, then put a AMC part # on all the required "kit" parts so to make it legal. Then they added a second brake booster which sole purpose was to suck the fluid back in a reservoir which drew the caliper pistons (and pads) back to full retract for easy replacement on a pit stop. Genius!

IIRC they had two master cylinders (one for the front, one for the rear) and a booster on the front circuit only.

They didn't bleed the brakes in that pit stop.. the caliper and hose is bled beforehand

They have something like Staubli dry break fittings..

Sloppy pit stop

Not the guys changing the brakes, they did their job quicker than the refueller that cost the team time

Refueller took 5 attempts to break the fuel hose dry break disconnect

4x 0.3sec reaction time = 1.2sec too long for the pit stop
