Paul will be proud… I did a thing.

I’m going to fly out there in 10 days and drive it home 1300 kms… should be an adventure.

Got any Tammy Wynette 8 tracks?

Nice! ‘66 6cyl? Hubcaps and side trim say ‘66.

What are your plans for it? I have a ‘66 with the 200ci 6cyl in it. Would drive it from VA to IA for college.

Interestingly enough my son and I are getting mine back on the road. The 6cyl has been hopped up and it’s got 3.73’s in the back so it goes decent.

Awesome!

Yup. 66 with a 6 cyl auto.

It comes with a new interior that needs to be installed so we will do that. Otherwise, probably keep the patina (apparently it looks better in the photos than it is). I want my son to do the work on this and potentially have it as his car when he turns 16, I don’t think he will be able to afford to insure his 944. Or fix it up and put it on BAT - not sure yet.

It is a barn find car that has had some repairs done and apparently it runs and drives great.

I can’t believe how cheap parts are for these.

The couple that built our house had a 6 cylinder Mustang that looked just like that. He bought it new. He used to park it right where I park my 911 now. He was a retired Marine drill sergeant.

Wow, really nice looking car. It's nice to see them in good, original shape. The cars that have been chopped up and turned into "Eleanor", bleh!

I don't know about buying from a guy who can't be bothered to take down his Christmas lights. What other maintenance has he deferred?

Congratulations, Billy!

Looks very original and I REALLY LOVE the shade of blue!

Totally agree on the patina, too.

Enjoy!

Super cool! Will be great for your son to learn on, I know I learned plenty on mine. Get some good hog ring pliers and the interior will be a fun project.

There is a pretty good technical forum that is focused on the Ford six performance, fordsix.com Nothing like here but the technical help is great.

Mine is a 3 speed and pretty much V8 stuff from the bellhousing back. In '67 they started using the same 3 speed for the V8 and 6cyl cars. The 3 speed in the 6cy cars for '66 and '65 did not have a synchro first so by the time I got mine as a 17yo in 1991 the trans was pretty tired.

Once my son was born in 2006, we had two kids and I was pretty into the Pcar scene by then and since my Mustang sat up on a lift in the garage it was one of those out of site out of mind type deals. Now that my son is a senior in high school and into cars (he drives a 5 speed 5.0 Fox body Mustang) he has been pushing to get it running. All we have left are new front suspension and 5 lug disc brake conversion and hope to start that next week, as the car runs now.

Here is a picture of the Offenhauser 3x1 intake with Webers on it. It is a progressive linkage and runs on the center carb until you give it gas. It also has a 6 into 2 header on it going into a couple of Flowmasters and I think sounds cool.

Ignore the horrible engine bay paint, lets just say as a teenager the battery may have come loose and a corner chopped off by the fan. When I opened the hood to see hat the heck was going on I got battery acid sprayed on me. Oh to be young again....

Exterior looks beautiful on that car! I’ve been giving some serious thought to getting a late 60s Mustang. Wouldn’t bother me at all to have a six cylinder.

Thank you Paul, it has some pep to it for what it is. I will have too, the fuel line is temporary and will be updated down road I am sure.

I'll never forget 'shopping' with my brother for a Mustang convertible after his Falcon got rear ended while parked on the street in front of our folks house. He'd just gotten it on the road after restoring it.
Anyway, it was at the Long Beach swap meet that they hold at the airport every once in a while. He found an old Mustang that was straight but not 'pretty'. 6-cyl with and auto, light blue metallic, white top, not much of an interior as I recall.
It ended up a white over red, 302 powered, Global West suspended hot rod. I'll have to find a pic of it to show you guys.

Did the car you pictured have roof damage from hail possibly?
Looks nice and solid.

Yes! Anything with the 200 or 300 CI is pretty much indestructible.
