I bought an old Ford truck

A one repaint Reef Aqua '70 F-250 4x4 "Highboy" to be exact. It's a 360 truck, no filler on the repaint, no rust truck. It was the prior owner's weekend toy and the verbal history is that it was a dealership's parts truck for many years. I don't think it has ever been left outside overnight. It drives like a tractor and is an ever-present reminder of the chasm between sports cars and utility vehicles of the era in terms of driving dynamics.

Yes, it was originally Reef Aqua per the Marti, but did have one repaint along the way. The truck itself has never been apart and the doors and hood close like new from the factory. I have a paint meter and it meters out at 5 - 9 everywhere, so there is no evidence of any filler or body work along the way.

A tank for sure. You get the "Friends of OPEC" award.
The smells that thing must admit.

Hah, it's actually well tuned with a Pertronix ignition and a Holley Avenger street carb, so it smells a lot less than the 911 and is easier to start to boot.

But yeah, 8 MPG no matter how I drive it. Fortunately, it has a 45 gallon fuel capacity between two tanks.

Looks like a nice score . All trucks of that era were brutes . I always liked the looks of the Jeep J10/J20 and the Dodge Power Wagons . My dad had a Ford F250 with a 360 and 2 wheel drive for a while for towing our travel trailers . It never could pass a gas station

I've owned a lot of old Ford trucks including a '71 F-250 and they are tough but almost incredibly inefficient in every sense of the word. They just don't carry or do much for the amount of energy, (fuel), expended. The F-250 diesel 4x4 that I own now has twice the torque and uses half the fuel and it's several generations old!

That said, it's very cool and the market has gone nuts for those old trucks. No idea what you paid but it's worth a lot.

Yes, there is! I had a '73 short bed F100 before and they were super helpful when I needed it. They helped me diagnose the horn (dead relay) and fix the inside door handle already on this one.

Very cool! I was looking at the build statistics, or at least those that are available, and most of the era were 2WD. Very different than today. Only about 10% of production were true 4WDs.

That’s a beautiful truck. I don’t think I’d want to own one ($$$ for fuel), but I sure enjoy looking at them.

Rides like a rock but i love them. I had a 72 Chevy Camper special one ton truck back in college. I love the torque and the sound just not the fuel mileage. That's a beautiful truck

Well stated.

We did not have a clue when they first came out. The old Fords look good.

Here's my 94 F150 2WD I got last fall. Full bed single cab. 5.0L

Not nearly as pretty as OP's but not a bad looking truck. The next platform was too round.
