What does your message response time in the modern world look like ?
I think I posted something similar a long time ago here . Not even just business , just in general , in life , and also at work .
Im sure most of you live like I do . you have e mails in your in box, texts, facebook messages , and phone messages . There is a daunting pile of contacts to be made every day . Some of them require a bit of research before a reply can be generated . I try to get back in 24 hours, but sometimes , when I dont , they get burried under the next days messages and takes me a few days or more . I try to set aside a few sessions a day to return messages . It does not always happen , but I make the effort . Are you johnny on the spot with messages, or do you let some fester ? Do you prioritize certain freinds and family, work ?

I am a fast responder (~hour to two unless I’m tied up), if only to acknowledge receipt. If it’s something that requires more work to provide an adequate response, I’ll say that so that everyone is clear on timeframes. It drives me NUTS when I send an email and days go by and crickets…..now for friends/fam, could be varying times depending on how busy I am and how eager I am to talk to them!

It sort of depends. I resent lots of interruptions and may not respond/care sometimes.

Get off my lawn!
|
I have my phone and computer email shared dynamically, and I sit in front of my computer most days "at work" in my home office. Most any legit business related email I reply something to promptly. I can be in mowing the yard, and reply to an email or text. I have had to shut off the lawn mower to take a call from a client. I even replied to a customer email, and had several thousands of dollars in prints made up for a client while I was on vacation with a few simple emails.
I lived most of my life without a cell phone. I could not ever go back to no smart phone.

I'm retired. If I get 2 or 3 e mails a week it is easily handled.
I guess I am a prompt responnder. Best Les

I try and respond to easy stuff as soon as I read the email. With my tiny business, I respond back either with an answer or a timeline that I will get back to them as soon as I see their email, which I check multiple times a day including weekends.
For friends, as soon as I can, usually within the day. With new possible romantic interests, I will slightly play the game and wait a day or so to not seem too needy! ...unless it requires a quick reply; then I will reply right away. I also try and take into consideration if my delay is holding up the other person from completing their task and if possible will take care of those as soon as I can. Of course the old saying” A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part” comes into play!

I usually respond instantly. I’m retired and lonely.

I usually respond within a minute or so, unless I’m in a meeting or something.

Work? near immediate if during normal working hours. If not, then during next normal working hours.
Family and such? Immediate, mostly. When you are rural there may not be reliable signal, etc. When I go fishing about half the drive is signal-less.

I use my iPhone for work and pleasure, so I use it throughout the day for phone calls, emails, texts, and pictures.
Emails are pushed and I receive them as they are sent. I usually reply within a few minutes to them and text messages. In addition, I take a lot of pictures for work, and download them to dropbox as soon as I finish taking them. What drives me crazy is, people do not reply to emails or texts within 24 hours. That seems like a fair amount of time to acknowledge. I have one subcontractor that is very slow to respond, and sometimes don’t respond at all. If I do get some thing, it’s “working on it” or “got it”. Then it’s crickets again. |

On the same day. My phone is silent except for my emergency contacts. I have to have that like a pager. Everything else goes to message or a text waiting. I look at the phone now and then.
As I told a few dealers, there are no rush jobs. Not here. |
