Ever make a claim with Hagerty?

Have you ever made a claim with Hagerty? How did it go?

Just did a windshield claim with them. Easy peasey. $2100 for a 968 windshield. I sent them the invoice. They sent me the loot.

I had a windshield claim with them many years ago. They wanted me to get a generic windshield but myself and the shop said no and we were able to get a Porsche supplied windshield. It was an easy process.

No personal experience. That said my mate had his '86 flooded in his under house garage due to 8" of rain in a short period like 2 hours. Water into the glove box flooded.
Hagerty was on it within a couple of days and totaled it at agreed value. Their tow guy came within a week and dragged it out of the garage and hauled it away.

They seem to be as advertised but, no doubt, others may have issues with claims. They are, after all, an insurance company.

No personal experience but I can share a story.
A member of the 912 group had a 356 coupe. He and a friend had gone on a drive up into the mountains, Angeles Crest comes to mind. They'd stopped part way up to admire the scenery when a minivan came down the hill, hit a patch of black ice and smacked into the 356, sending it down the hillside but keeping the minivan on the top with the family inside safe.
He had stated value on the 356 and they paid it off in full no questions asked. He figured the loss of the car was worth the saving of the family.

FIL had a VERY large claim. Was great. I sell insurance. Hagerty has a pretty good reputation. There are exceptions, however.

Yup an average one... That turned into a big one. They were great. First repaired the damage, then agree with me paint matching on a patina'ed car would be impossible, so paid to repaint the entire car. That, and their support of Camissa's videos on their Youtube channel are 2 great reasons to use them !

Yeah, I have.

Six seven years ago they fired about 12 people, including my son-in-law. He has since declared on a semi-annual basis that, ‘I doan need no stinkin’ job!

Yes. I had an engine fire. They handled everything promptly and professionally. Car was totaled. I bought it back for auction price. They paid me agreed value minus auction price. Car now is in great shape and faster too. I have Hagerty for both cars.

Awful. I’d walk rather than use them. F. Hagerty.

Well…

I called them to ask how a no fault claim would affect my premiums. They didn’t know. They passed me on to the underwriter. The underwriter then began to initiate a claim. I told them that I needed to understand the cost ramifications before we proceed with a claim for ~$5k in damage with a $1k deductible.

The underwriter claim guy told me that the adjuster could tell me how the claim would impact my premiums and then if I didn’t want to continue, I could cancel the claim… I will report back once I know. I have no idea what the next steps are - seems pretty ‘bush league’ so far.

I had to make a claim on my 1982 Targa. It was nearly 20 years ago, but my experience was good.
