Decent article until it brought up the alleged "wage gap" which has been thoroughly debunked.

Google study reveals Men have been underpaid.

https://www.npr.org/2019/03/05/700288695/google-pay-study-finds-its-underpaying-men-for-some-jobs

The main reasons for disparity in pay really boil down to choices. Men choose more dangerous, non glamorous jobs that pay more. Offshore oil rigging, deep sea fishermen, STEM fields ect....women typically prefer relationship based professions, education, HR, etc....

Additionally women tend to be more agreeable and often don't negotiate for a higher salary.

Finally, its illegal to pay women less than men for the same job. If it was legal companies would exclusively hire women.

Trying to push this to the next page.

Mr Rodsrsr,
Please, let's not start debating political matters in this thread. If you're so inclined, feel free to start a new thread on PARF regarding equal pay proposals.

Thank you kindly for your understanding.

They've been used quite a bit, gone over and inspected, then curated?

Older = made better. And, with the exception of bell bottoms, timeless design or at least relevant every 20 yrs or so.

I'm 58. My GF is 47 and she's going through "pre-menopause" and I'd never heard of the term until recently. At this point nothing has changed but I've done some reading on the subject and things may in the future. Like everything else it depends on the individual Gal.

Bill Douglas 12-01-2023 10:45 PM

This thread is making putting 64 year old me off the idea of dating. Yikes.

I think I'll settle for a nice pinot noir and good sensible conversation with the cats and dogs. No screaming and yelling.

Yes, I accept I have tried and failed.

Edit: And Baileys Original Irish Cream.

I think you did better with your 100 bucks than I did.

Making a relationship at any age is fraught with so many dead ends and disappointments, but every now and then the right two people meet and recognize in each other the thing that makes it worth while. You won't know if you don't try.

Some treasures are just waiting to be found. Oh, and I love bell bottoms. They remind me of my teens.

Apparently there is an exception to the rule. Glad thats not a thing for men, or I'd be falling flat on my face regularly.

I still miss my Nehru shirt.

I don't miss corduroys.

I was never a fan, but I do remember that they were great in the snow or cold weather.
They were warm.

I also remember the bell-bottom jeans as looking slightly different than the ones Dixie is wearing. They were like these.

Yes, thats the type I was referring to.

Don't remember corduroys being any warmer than jeans, but it's been a while. Seems like they were better for static shocks though...

Should have held on to my purple crushed velvet bell bottoms.

And that was BEFORE I started doing drugs.

Yes, there is a young lady at work that wears jeans like these and she fills them out very nicely if ya know what I mean. Talked to her a time or two and she parks in the same area that I do so, I get to enjoy the view for a while when walking to our cars after work. [emoji3]

Who here will admit to owning a 'Leisure Suit'?

I had one...but I think I only wore it once...to a wedding.

I remember my Dad had some leisure suits. I borrowed a blue plaid one that he had and dressed up as a nerd on Halloween once. Lol.

Reviving this thread due to a couple of dumpster fire dates that I've had recently.
One of which lasted no more than 15 minutes. We sat down for coffee and started chatting. She hits me with "you should shave your beard off it makes you look so old".

Buh bye

The second one lasted through the entire date but she kept checking her phone and looking around the cafe' as though planning an emergency exit. I had to pry any conversation out of her.

Man, it shouldn't be this hard. I get along better with my 19 year old ambulance partner.

1990C4S 10-21-2024 07:00 AM

Keep looking. There's a 10% chance you will 'like' anyone you meet. There's a 10" chance they will like you.

That's 1% that you like each other...

I apologize you were treated so poorly. Being on the phone while in someone's company is inexcusably rude. First date or thirty years married, pull your phone out while spending time with me and you'll hear the gates of hell begin to open.

Okay, first date I'm simply walking, but there will never be a second date.

Older men with beards need to be sure that they are fashionable (Like Vincent Price or whomever) and don't just look like drunken David Letterman or Mel Gibson beards that make them look homeless....

Dating in ones 60s --- Late 60s.
