you need to want to believe sometimes....
Paul's post on UFO's got me to thinking about something I've gone down more than one rabbit hole after. Bigfoot, Sasquatch, the Yeti (not the cooler) or whatever the 8' tall hairy thing might be called.
I believe, cause I want to. Pretty cool data base here on sightings. some are nonsense, but there are enough to make you wonder. Makes me wonder. https://www.bfro.net/gdb/#usa I live in Tuolumne County in the foothills of CA and there are some pretty cool accounts of sightings here>> https://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_county_reports.asp?state=ca&county=Tuolumne lastly this movie's last couple stories are from in my county up hwy108 on the way to the sonora pass. check the sober, packing hunting guy's story and audio. https://www.amazon.com/Missing-411-Hunted-David-Paulides/dp/B07TJ24LHF i believe! ![]()

As a kid, I used to watch that show with Leonard Nimoy called In Search Of. I was glued to the TV each week when the show came on. UFOs, Loch Ness Monster and of course, Bigfoot, were some of the topics it covered. To this day whenever I see contact about all of those, I’m glued to the TV.

Human nature being what it is,
tells us that some people want to believe something is real so they do, and try to convince others they are right. Some people want to believe something is not real so they do, and try to convince others they are right. Neither group is swayed by a need for the real truth and deserves no credibility. The truth to them is whatever they want it to be. Which leads us to a third group, one who doesn't care whether they want it to be true or not, they just want to know the real truth. That is all that matters to them. Shame they are such a small minority. |

Some of the more modern shows are to me a bit silly in their presentation, but there must be a bunch of folks that like the format. I am or try to be or think I am, very open minded about all of this stuff, UFOs, ghosts, big food, etc.... As I'm getting older my feelings are that most of this stuff is likely not around in the way that many folks would like. If these things were real, then I think there would be more evidence. But, we still do find new things every year that we didn't know about previously, new species, species that are still around that we thought were extinct, etc....

There is not one single tiny bit of hard evidence. Not one hair, patch of skin, or bone from any of the various bigfoot sightings from Nepal to the swamps of Florida. Not one.
The most famous film with the bigfoot looking over its shoulder is a confirmed fake, and the people that produced it have admitted it is a fake. Like the Lake Ness monster most famous photo is a confirmed fake. It is certainly remotely possible that 7 foot tall harry apes walk the forests and remote areas of the world. But in an age of cell phone cameras, trail cams, and lots of campers, not one bit of hard evidence. Not even a turd. Color me very skeptical. Show me some evidence, and not some big footprints in the dirt that are easy to fake, and I will maybe believe.

Squatch rules!!!!
![]() I think it would be really cool if a squatch turned up tomorrow in central park, guest on Good Morning America, and doing book signings at Barnes and Noble- but- It probably ain't gonna happen. Back in 2018, there was a huge bigfoot convention in my neck of the woods and I went, but, sadly, came walking out with my head shaking at the whole event, believing in squatch even less than when I walked in. The event I was at openly mixed paranormal with Squatch. Quantum Squatch. Portals. Extra dimensions. I think Ron Morehead even showed up. For me the distribution of evidence is the kicker. I think I recall hearing the BFRO stating there were over 200 sightings a year, which would be 2,000? a decade, which is quite remarkable, and because of such, "something" must be going on (according to believers). If there was really a 10 foot ape running through the woods breaking deer in half, imho it would provide a much broader swath of evidence. If it screws up so much and "gets seen 200 times a year" (or even a fraction that), I'd expect it would also mess up and get seen by trail cams, cctvs, breaking into the dumpster behind KFC, stepping in front of semi trucks, etc. Such a perfect elusive creature (capable of such stealth) would not mess up so much with the eyewitness sightings, yet perfectly avoid all the other types of evidence it's extraordinary existence would provide. Cool tattoo btw! edit- since my friends and family know I'm a squatch fan (even though I find them doubtful), I am pegged for x-mas and b-day gifts. I've got bigfoot cups, shot glasses, stickers, all sorts of stuff. ![]() There- I've said too much! ![]()

Yea, I guess they all live underground in hidden complexes, or they never sleep. All other apes sleep, and leave behind a nest except bigfoot. And they never leave a scrap of waste food or evidence of what they were feeding on.
If we ever capture one, the Navy Seals and Army Rangers can learn a lot from them on how to evade the enemy and live in the woods and never leave a single trace of any sort, except the occasional footprint.

Living in the middle of Bigfoot country, I have had my interest piqued.
So I did a big think on this one time. I realized, since everyone is carrying a camera / video camera, there would be evidence of this on the internet. A good search of Youtube revealed exactly ZERO. I concluded that there is no bigfoot. Please prove me wrong. I will be amused. |

If you want to see "The Sasquatch"... Buy a tent + gear and live in the area they have been most commonly been reported in (I'm not joking).
I mean real time. Set aside at least six months (Spring - Summer?) at a minimum. Is this project worth one year of your life? Just sit quietly and live. Minimal impact to the surrounding environment. Your camp site should be as neat as a pin 100% of the time. No stray rubbish and good sanitary solutions and running potable water close by. Internet access is essential so you can upload any photos or video. Daily blog or start a dedicated thread on Pelican? Solar charging solution for your electronics? Thick greasy wool socks for comfort? Good boots plus soft shoes for the camp area? At night sound takes on a whole new meaning. You can hear things that you'd never hear during the day. (Auto game cameras covering your camp site looking in and out - You'd have to review any night time videos every day) Short of that you're wholly reliant on second hand information.

Dang, beat me to it. I rocked this sign over my desk for many years before I retired: ![]() I've spent an inordinate amount of time in the Cascade and Olympic ranges here in Washington, home to Bigfoot. Hiking, back packing, hunting, fishing. I'll be 63 soon. I cannot remember a year in which I did not spend a cumulative month at a minimum, sometimes double or triple that, in our woods. Yet... nada. Zilch. Nothing. Ever. Yet I've had encounters with literally every other species confirmed to be living in those woods. I really, really wanna believe... but, well, reality. I've also swam in Loch Ness. Obviously not nearly the frequency, nor the duration, but I was hoping to get lucky. Maybe next time...

If you've not seen the missing 411 documentary on Amazon I link above check it out. Like I had said the last couple stories are up the hill from me about 30 minutes or so. There are sounds recorded at a hunting camp at night that have been analyzed by schooled up types that cannot explain the vocalizations, the stone throwing and banging is very audible as well.
it's not all about squatch, there are other stories of strange disappearances from forested areas.

Hah - I love it. Believe me, if one recorded the sounds emanating in the middle of the night from some of the hunting camps I've been in, I don't think any "schooled up types" would be able to identify them, either.

Funny story?
My FIL's father was a Nazarene Minister. He got a call from a member of the congregation who was a widow. She lived out in the sticks in Washington or Idaho. Not sure, this was long ago. He drives out in the night. He arrives and her dogs are freaking out. Weird smell in the air. Sees some odd prints in the freshly plowed field. Spends the night. In the am, follows the tracks and sees them end going straight up a cliff. He takes a plaster cast of the prints. End of story as I heard it. What is funny? This story has virtually EVERY marker of a Bigfoot story. It seems too good. Let's sort out what is a far more reasonable explanation: Horny pastor (or horny widow!) needs excuse for booty call. Maybe its just the way my mind works. This amuses me. |

I liked In Search OF too when young and still do when those type of shows come up on the net. I like to believe big foot exist but I know its too good to be true.
What about Rock Ape of Viet Nam. Mark Felton's off the beaten path war stories are darn good and many are true stories. |
