Top two times today set by customer 963's . Penske cars were 8th and 10th . Qualifying should be interesting but it doesn't matter where you start its where you finish after 24 grueling hours .

The GTP cars are about 1.5 seconds faster than last year.

*The Proton Mustang Sampling 963 crashed in practice and did not participate in qualifying.

Thats a bummer for Proton as they missed practice time in session 1.

Agreed. At Le mans with the weird Split safety cars some bad stuff can happen if you start behind, so pole is worth something... At Daytona, throw in one yellow and it's game on again for all. Good to see the Porsche platypus (aka 963) is finally a bit more competitive. I prefer Sebring as a FL track but this is first good race of the year, bring it on !!

The GT cars this year are one of the more exciting things happening. BMW, Chevy Corvette, Ford Mustang, Porsche, McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lexus/Toyota, Acura/Honda, Aston Martin, Mercedes. Pretty much a who's who of manufacturers. And with the GT3 spec, they are much closer to production cars. Pfaff switching from Porsche to McLaren should be really interesting to see. 2 factory and 2 privateer Corvettes in the field. The factory Mustangs. Should be good!!

Also! Good to see they axed the LMP3 cars from the main field. They were the cause of many incidents over the years (directly or indirectly). Sure, they needed them as field fillers for several years, but that case has been reversed.

The Mustangs qualified at the back of the pack but were given fairly severe weight penalties They seemed to be fast in practice though. Hmmmm ... I'm thinking of a word. Help me. Starts with an S and ends with 'andbagging'. Anybody know what it is? Apparently, IMSA didn't fall for it? These BoP adjustments are always tough at the start of the season. I think we'll have a better handle on what the cars can do after Sebring. The 2 tracks are totally different and probably represent a good mix.

Salter seems like a great guy. I had no idea the Acura uses an F1 ECU. Thank-you for sharing.

Dave is super fun, so enthusiastic, brain the size of a planet but so good at explaining things in a way even a dummy like me can understand

When we were at Ferrari together he was explaining over a long lunch how the new 2014 F1 hybrid engine worked

One statement he made that just blew my mind was...

The engine will have an electric motor the size of a Coke can weighing less than 9lbs powered by the turbo to 125,000RPM that will put out 150BHP

My pasta had long gone cold before I digested these incomprehensible numbers
