The finish is not polished like I'd expect a gage block. It does look like it could be a carbon motor brush.
Is it magnetic or does it mark a piece of paper?

Do you have mills at work? Seems like that could be a tooling fixture — some kind of cradle. I would guess it got separated from other tooling.

It looks sintered, not machined. At least in the picture.

It's a small piece of tooling. Could be half of a die? Or possibly (don't think this is correct) a punch?
Doesn't look sintered to me. Looks like a piece of old carbon steel that was milled into shape. |
