Thanks everyone. Wasn't all that bad. Little confining for me as I'm used to having more freedom to move around when I want to, but overall no big complaints.

Tooth is still sensitive because of the work done and is supposed to get better in a day or two I was told. Different for everyone.

Going to remain with soft foods for a while and eating mostly on the right side but hopefully this will take care of the problem.

Appreciate everyone's support here......I really do!

Nice! Glad you're over the hump and soon to be greatly improved!

Yes, I've heard that the discomfort level can vary not just person to person but tooth to tooth. I'm sure there's a reason for that, but I have no idea what that reason is.

According to Dr. Szell, a live, freshly cut nerve is infinitely more sensitive. Video forwarded to 6:45.

I am not a dentist, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night! 😀
On the serious side, I had a root canal by a specialist. It was painless. The worst part was the hour or more I had to sit there.

Some tenderness is to be expected for a couple days. You should not feel any pain in the tooth itself but there are nerves surrounding the socket. All that digging around in the tooth killed any nerves in the tooth itself. Whatever you were doing for pain should make things very comfortable while the socket heals. The less you aggravate it the faster the heal.

A Q tip helps.

Dip it into the oil and carefully swab the gum area on either side of the tooth.

I also try not to swallow or produce any saliva for at least a minute or two to allow the oil to be absorbed into the tissue.

I was at my Mom's assisted living facility on Tuesday and one of the staff members had a sore tooth and the owner was telling her to use a wet tea bag on it, FWIW.

I'm good, Milt. Got an exam and cleaning today and got a clean bill of health. Still a small amount of tenderness but that's normal. No pain though.

Been having an occasional flare up... very, very, minor compared to what you endured. I figure just having the Clove Oil on hand will stop it from ever happening again

Thanks !

FWIW......I wish I had hit my dentist up earlier. I think I waited about a week from when the symptoms first started. Then after I called them it took a couple more days before they could see me....just to diagnose the problem! All in all I figure I lost about 10 days there where treatment could have been scheduled much earlier.

This was my first root canal so I didn't realize the "warning signs".

Live and learn, huh?
