Well they sure make light poles like they used to.

That vehicle was going WAY way too fast for that to happen. Darwin win again. Glad the driver had no passengers.

This was my nephew that you all are commenting about. He was my brother's son, my other nephew's brother and my family. Whatever your opinion is about this situation, It was a devastating event for our family. I would appreciate if you don't have anything kind to say that you keep it to yourself. It is easy to make careless and thoughtless comments online. You don't know the details. Please stop."

Steve must be right...gotta be a Mustang. After all...well, just gotta be a mustang.

One stout pole. The oval grille suggests a BMW but I think not. Combine the grille with the 5 spoke wheel and win 20 bucks.

The pole needs to be charged with manslaughter.

Based on the wheels and color my guess is an old Acura TL. Here is a 2003. The wheels are almost a dead match.

I was also thinking Honda product, but maybe a Civic.

I am liking the Civic... The license plate indent is in the bumper on the Acura whereas on the Civic it's in the trunk lid. The angles match pretty well too.

Nailed it. For a min, I was thinking WRX STI, but then looking at that one pic, I thought "wrong wheels" and "that doesn't look like it says 'STI'. It looks like it says something similar."

Yeah, I would have thought WRX STI too by using the driving style (and outcome) as a clue.

I had to remove the rear fascia, tail lights, and bumper to install a draw-tite hitch.
The hitch has to go between the bumper and the body of the car.

Here is a pic of it with my Swagman bike carrier attached to the new hitch. I really like the hitch and bike carrier....nothing touches the car body.

I saw that comment as well. What a horrible thing for a family to suffer. Then to have to put up with the typical keyboard warriors' snide comments. It's more than a bit disheartening just how callous and uncaring so many have become.

That said, I know this area very, very well. He was entering a residential neighborhood after having passed through an area with small strip malls, gas stations, and other such business lining both sides of the road. It's a 35 mph zone going into a 25 mph zone.

Traveling at that speed in that area shows an absolutely reckless disregard for anyone else. The fact that he did not kill anyone else is a miracle. Yeah, we can get all snarky about how he removed himself from the gene pool, how that's probably a good thing, and all of that. Harsh words for the family to see in print. Hearts out to them, but no sympathy whatsoever for the driver. He got what he deserved.

Dang dude. You even quote pwd's comments, and then go on and bash his family member that just died. Even if you dont have sympathy, you could at least show some empathy and not say anything ffs.

Wasn't my family member. I was quoting one of the comments made in the link given in the original post.
