Quote:
When Rolex introduced them, after the new-dangled quartz watches were gaining in popularity, Rolex buyers were not very interested. They had an integrated bracelet, and were fairly expensive, so Rolex didn’t sell very many of them. Now, because they are rare, the ignoranti of the watch world seek them out and the values are much, much higher. Last edited by javadog; 06-19-2024 at 10:00 AM.. |

Here’s another…
Seiko has made millions of good quality quartz watches for decades, at reasonable prices. Not high end, but serviceable and capable of outlasting you if cared for properly. The company is nearly 150 years old and has been making watches about 100 years. They actually make some very high end watches under the Grand Seiko brand. They’ve become known amongst the watch world ignorati in the last dozen years or so, although the first Grand Seiko watch was made in 1960. They have a pretty decent mechanical movement in their recent production and have also begun making very complicated movements. I recently saw one priced at $365,000. |

A correction on that price… as of today, it’s $431,852.91.
Better hurry, if you want one. They’re only making 20 of them.

I wear a Casio Pro Trek with a Titanium bracelet much like those iin the original video. I had to buy an cheap EFIXTK Watch Repair Kit (made in China) to push the pin out to adjust my bracelet. I also had to buy a pair of magnifying glasses to even see just what I was doing.
Pushing the pins out is easy with the little vise and pin pusher. It is really hard to find a watch repair shop anymore. Like Locksmiths with a brick and mortar store.

Waiting on additional links to get my bracelet sized right and got a 'Zealande' FKM rubber (I dunno, supposed to be something fancy) strap for my Seamaster. I gotta say I much prefer the thickness and feel of the rubber strap that came on my $600 (paid $350) Seiko.
