New Toyota Land Cruiser in 2024

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a44699820/2024-toyota-land-cruiser-revealed/

What do we think?

Thinking the hybrid might make daily driving at $5+/gal gas tolerable.

Me really want, only because its a Toyota LC. How big it it, compared to the older LC wagons? I just saw a vid of it and there's no 3rd roll fold down seat. The broke tradition unless its a Prado size (4 runner) LC.

It almost feels like the land cruiser now sits above the 4runner and below the Sequoia (this is where you will get a usable 3rd row) and usable towing capacity. In the current iteration the 3rd row seating in a 5th Gen 4Runner is a serious compromise.

Only saw the released photos--no mechanical details of the truck. But I was a bit underwhelmed. Not as good-looking as the FJ60s and '80s I have running in my mind. But the interchangeable headlights is a pretty novel idea.

I think that one is pretty cool.

My Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law just got a 2024 Grand Highlander just yesterday and I think it is ugly as crap!!!

Dimension wise it’s very similar to the 200 series but no 3rd row because that’s where the battery lives. Smaller than the 300 which is Lexus only now.

I have 20k miles on my ‘21 Heritage Edition and it does everything exactly like I want, it is not going anywhere and will hopefully be the last SUV I ever buy. I like that it has a V8 that was used in a zillion pickups and the Sequoia, means parts are readily available and will always be. I have also used the fold down 3rd row on a number of occasions and fit full sized people back there. It isn’t too big to fit into my garage and is easy to park and it has been off road some, but nothing hardcore. It’s too big for that, but for getting to camping spots, anywhere in the snow, etc. it is perfect.

Overall, I think it’s cool Toyota tried bring the price point down, will be interesting seeing how the 4cyl does in such a big vehicle.

The build quality on my 200 series is incredible, that’s one of the things that made them legendary and expensive, so I wonder if that will change too.

I hope not. My daughter is looking at them now as well.

She had an FJ for well over ten years and now drives a 4Runner. She will probably wait a year or two.

Lexus RX450 hybrid gets about 27 mpg, and it is a lead sled

I am 8 months in with my 2023 TRD OR Prem and it's been an amazing vehicle.

Same here. Should do well with the Bronco Sport-type crowd. I think my 100 should have no concerns about being replaced.

My thinking as well Sarc....

Paul, based on her and your experience I would be interested in what she thinks if she does get one. I'd say the bugs were worked out of the 200 by the time I got mine.

The first thing I thought... "Reactive Armour Plates" on the front! It looks "Military".

Not a bad thing and the aftermarket people will have a field day with it.

I’m waiting for 80/100/200 series prices to drop. If they don’t, I’ll keep my Sequoia. I do want the hybrid LC but I don’t want a car payment.

I think pricing has been flat for a long time. It will only go up from here especially for the 80, and the 100. I couldn't give my 80 away for 4-5k about 10 years ago. As soon as furl goes up their price drops. I tell ya, that 80 will always have a special place in my heart. plenty of comfort, but solid front axle, go anywhere given enough fuel. The 100 has more creature comfort which I need now instead of "bounce" on the hwy.

More then likely I would buy another since I have a 5 gen 4 runner now. That may be my younger son's in a couple years. My off road days are over, so it just maybe a Tahoe to travel around in or maybe something even smaller, who knows?

I’m hoping to pick up a 100 series below $10k with mileage less than 225k but right now, those trucks are going for $15k+ in Northern CA.

55, What year. Depending on the year, some have better options and more HP. I think I like the look of the Lexus 450 but dislike the adj suspension. Old Lexus, no one wants in CA. They all want shiny ones.

I'm sure it would grow on me if I had to buy one.

Looks cool, but I'm holding out for an EV IH Scout. The VW Group actually owns the IH name. It has a 2026 release date and is being built in South Carolina.

Said Scout EV as the forums seem wonky this AM.
