That’s why you always want to opt for a bench trial.

Yeah, it's not the response you expected, oh well.
Fail to ID is a misdemeanor. Interfere with public duties is also a misdemeanor, that applies to the poop head brother.

I've had cases were defendant spat on officers, which is a felony

Here's a case from Lubbock where D got 70 years for spitting cops. Dude was a habitual offender which made minimum sentence 25 years.

watched 30 seconds of it on mute, kid didnt touch the cop or make any motions that hinted at a physical attack

Man thats a scary proposition if cops are allowed to attach every dumbass douchbag that "had it coming". Insane thing to glamorize.

You need to listen to it. Guy kept telling the cop to take off his vest so he could show him.

And cop was relaxed and trying to talk the kid down. Kid eventually stepped towards the cop like he was getting ready to go. It was all talk/bravado, but as a cop you never know who's going to try to hurt you and who won't. The kid needed to learn a lesson now.

Also the kid had brass knuckles in his pocket.

Watch the kid's right hand.

Hinted? Come on. He was closing the "personal" gap by taking small steps towards the officer at the end and was telling the officer earlier to take his vest off so they could fight while pounding his fist into his open hand.

The steps are what did it. The cop did not lose his cool even in the tussle.

Yep, exactly.

If the cop had done nothing, the kid would have walked away thinking "I can get away with anything." And the kid likely would have kept doing it over and over again because he could and it made him feel powerful. It would not be a stretch to imagine the kid gradually pushing further and further instead of a misdemeanor he could have ended up in much worse trouble later on. Now, he, hopefully, has a better understanding about how the world works, and will stay out of trouble.

this isnt how justice works. this is how a bully works. we don't employ cops to bully people, we employ cops to enforce justice

One thing:

I was never "hit" as a child or in my teen years, but if my Father saw me in a video addressing a policeman like that I'd of had to move out of the house to avoid the ton of bricks headed my way.

Never-mind: My Mom would have gone all Basque on my ass before he got home...he would have needed only one brick to finish it.

Justice appeared to be served, along with a valuable life lesson. Up to the little ****bird if he takes it on board to inform his future decisions.

There is a limit to how much bull**** people will endure.

Meh, the kid was trying, unsuccessfully, to be a bully, thinking that he could get away with something.

Maybe not "justice" exactly. But certainly a "teaching moment."

If that hadn't been a cop standing there, if it had been another dumbass kid, cauliflower head would have been seen as the bully, by his actions.

You seem to be influenced by who the kid was bullying.

Pretty stupid.

i am influenced by who the kid was trying to bully. and being the person granted power, by me, a citizen, to do violence on my behalf, i want those people to behave like adults. not like bullies.
