The real key to success in disassembling something like this is to do it inside of a clear plastic bag of appropriate size. A local gunsmith showed me this method many decades ago. This simple little trick has saved me countless hours of grief crawling around the floor looking for that spring tensioned part that unexpectedly launched, or that tiny little proprietary screw that came loose and fell out one turn before expected during disassembly.

Jacob got a 514 when he was 8 from my wife's grandmother. It was rough and he reblued the barrel, Tru-Oiled the stock and made me replace the ejector. RP7 in the bolt loosened everything up for him.
. Side note, he was asked if he wanted to hold an M3 at the The Chennault Aviation & Military Museum. Exciting day for a 14 year old. The guy quizzed him on a bunch of stuff and finally stumped him with a Civil War boot gun. ![]() ![]()
