My car is packed, and my house is prepped. I'll be on the road tomorrow. I expect traffic to be insane.
I have this gut feeling my house won't make it to 101 years old. In fact, I expect most of my neighborhood to be gone. Hopefully I'm just being overly dramatic. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1728331634.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1728331698.jpg |
Good luck Dixie! Stay safe!

Why not leave today?

I have a buddy, who lives around Tampa, and he’s planning on staying. He lives 15 miles from the coast. I reminded him, Western North Carolina, was 600 miles from the coast…

FWIW, I threw my mink and fox coats on my spare bed. My thinking is the water won't get that high. Sure, the wind may get them. If that happens I expect to see some happy homeless people in a couple months. 🤣

Well, if you need a safe place, even though I'm close to the St Johns river, I'm literally just out of the flood zone and my house and shop are brick, so they can Huff and Puff, and my walls aren't going anywhere, plus, the old 2500 4x4 Suburban hasn't failed me yet.

Sorry you're in this situation Dixie. A real horror story. Do your best to stay safe and fingers crossed for the house.

What do people do if they cannot get out of the Tampa area? Find a several story parking garage or building?
I assume the military has evacuated aircraft and personnel from MacDill AFB, CENTCOM, etc? |
I have known people to have supplies in their attic if they need to cut through the roof to get out for the lesser storms. Everyone I know in the area has gone south to Miami.
Stay safe Dixie and everyone! |

Traffic was thick headed north on 75 last night - more than I have seen. Allowing the use of shoulders as lanes, so 3 lane became 5 lane and it was still full
Most gas stations along 75 here in Alachua co are out of gas or down to premium and non-ethanol only |
^^^ Just an "incident" away from being one big azz long parking lot for hours.... btdt on I-95 South once.... St Mary's bridge wreck ... sat for 3 hours ... 30 minutes away from Jax .... just 1 mile from the state line.
Here comes the sun .... y'all be safe :) |
