Jezza had a serious health scare (Jeremy Clarkson)

Got lucky, it seems.

On the very last Grand Tour that recently aired, he stomach is huge. They show clips from the past episodes, and he was fat, but not that fat. I suspect he will loose a lot of weight on his new health diet. Glad it was just a scare, and a wake up scare.

One of my buddie's mom is 85 and a life long smoker. She was recently found to have a cancerous mass in her lungs. After several MRIs her brain is clear and the cancer has not spread. So now they have to decide on surgery, or radiation to kill off the cancer. The doctor asked her, have you quit smoking, and she said yes, for the last 6 weeks. If she had said no, they would not recommend further treatment.

I’m a health fairly slim and very active 77 year old. I play golf (walking the course) three times a week. I started having a tight feeling in my chest on occasion and thought it might be “heart burn”. Never had it before and several buddies said, yeah, that’s right where you get it. One of the guys I play with was a cardiologist and he says no, that’s angina…you need to get a stress test. I went to my primary care dr and he did a couple of tests and said “you’re gonna hate me”. Sent me to the ER in an ambulance.

They put in three stents at the ER (after several tests of their own) and I haven’t had the tight chest since. Went to a birthday party that night. Later told my doctor and my golf buddy they may have prevented catastrophic failure!

OK, I have a question for the Brits. How in the heck does "Jeremy Clarkson" get shortened to Jezza?

I can understand Ant instead of Anthony, but Jezza makes no sense to me.

This has been my last 18 months…

I’m now working with a bunch of bright, young engineers who like to drink. There is a keg in the office.

I’ve started having 3-4 beers a week, well short of the 3-4 per day I was having no before my heart scare.

I try to eat smart.

It's a Brit thing.

Barry = Baz/Bazza
Jerry = Jez/Jezza
Gary = Gaz/Gazza
Mary = Maz/Mazza

I found the following, and it makes as much sense as anything else that I've read.

Quote:
I heard variations on this a lot while living in the UK from 2004-2013. As near as I could work out a "rule" for it, as some have pointed out, it is most commonly applied to names with the letter "r" separating two vowels; the name is truncated and everything after the r is replaced by either "zz" or "zza". I remember reading an article in Vanity Fair in 1998 by the actor Richard E. Grant who'd been on a film location with Sharon Stone in which he nicknamed her "Shazza". In London in 2005 I worked for a guy named Sheriar (an Indian name) whose British prep school son teased him with the nickname of Shezza. It's definitely not just a "cockney" thing. I also remember in news reports about the unfortunate British murder victim, Meredith Kercher (killed by Rudy Guede in Perugia Italy), that her family referred to her as "Mez".

60 reds and 3-4 pints/1.8 liters of wine a day.
Thats two to three bottles of wine a day.
(I'm justifying my beer after work and getting home having a glass of wine at dinner)

LOL
Implications aren't funny, but that is a hilarious way to say it.

I always wonder about upper limits, not that it is anything to ascribe to.
Watching some videos on YT beatles taking acid, it seems they weren't as naughty as implied.

The video (I think the Mongolia episode) where the three of them couldn't drink showed how much etoh had an effect on their lives (not that it was a surprise though)

How much? always been something I wondered.

I mean, when you start your own gin and hawkstone brewing companies, that says something.

On this website, they show a list of the price of a pack of Marlboros in various places.

http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/region_prices_by_city?itemId=17&region=150

60 bucks a day in coffin nails if you live in England. (maybe less if you buy 'em by the carton? Or did he have a personal services contract with Phillip Morris UK?)
Either way, you gotta be rich or famous to have a 3 pack a day habit.

(And years ago, on Top Gear, he had mentioned that he had stopped smoking. When I was watching Grand Tour, his raspy voice. always made me think the quitting didn't 'take')

Reds took out my grandad on my mother's side. He also fought at hacksaw ridge. I guess I'd smoke too in that instance. I grew up in Richmond, Va. home of phillip morris. During grade school, we'd take tours of the malboro factories and hear about how great the employee benefits were (not judging, just sharing- interesting school tour for a 3rd grader) . -not trying to derail, just sharing what seems like an strange fact from childhood.

Jezza needs to take better care of himself but he has to undo a life time of bad habits. I wish him the best.

IMO It's not about what your consuming. The quantity of food is the issue. Most adults eat too much.

Look up "Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease" (NAFLD).
