Well now that you’ve won your own penis measuring contest I’ll go back to digging ditches. You are obviously the superior in every way. A legend in the neighborhood watch for sure.

I tell mine to leave the money on the nightstand. I like feeling cheap. ;-)

I don't like it when they suddenly yell "Time." And it's too late for me to say "I'll mow the lawns twice."

FAANG and FAANG adjacent are well over 200k in less time than you’d think. That’s why the recruitment process is so competitive.

Other places - you are in management or really know what you are doing.

If I got paid everytime I did something for the SO, I'd be a millionaire.

Me too. I put a starter in my friend/neighbor's truck and regularly plow his driveway.
But there is more than friendship going on with an SO - there is an implied commitment on some level.
If she is really "significant" go ahead and commit.
If not, make yourself feel good by offering to free labor in fixing her car and ask her to pay for the parts.

Guys,
I guarantee one thing. Charge your gal, and she'll be gone.
Women are like campfires. If you don't tend to them, they go out on you.

No kidding. Fixing her car sure beats having to watch the Hallmark or Cooking Channel with her.... or worse, a Brady Bunch marathon.

you were the one who all up in arms

anyway, yes, because i am systemically overpaid, and plenty of brilliant and fantastic people i know are underpayed for what they do, i spend my own time and energy to fix cars ... its the least i can do. its cheap, its fun, and it helps everyone.

Dixie, thanks for hanging out with us Neanderthals.
Love your input/perspective.

I've shared a few of your posts with my wife, and had a good laugh together.
And, of course, she agrees with you.

You're welcome I enjoy the banter and witty replies. Plus, Neanderthals can be charming, and good for moving heavy things.

Hahahaha! Oh man, yesterday I helped the ex take out an old 36" Sony Trinitron for bulky rubbish. That thing was over 200lbs. She lives in a condo and had it on a furniture dolly for years. I would have preferred it on a handtruck, but she had crap on that, too. To get it to the dump area I have to push it up a slight incline from the loading area, then it slopes down, through the parking lot, down a slight hill, then finally to the dump area. Not the easiest to maneuver 200lbs with 4 wheels on the dolly that turn.

If your relationship depends on the guy being her mechanic on tap he’s better off without her.
“Fix my car or I’m out of here” = “Don’t let the door bruise your fat ass on the way out.”

I agree with that, but don't fix it and then charge me. That will get you gone.

When I first started dating my wife I did fix something for her. She ended up chasing me around trying to stuff cash in my pocket. She was pretty fast and nimble, but I have an awesome head-fake. I finally accepted her buying me a meal. She was getting mad, almost. Spending time w her was a win for me anyways so we went out to eat. She picked up the tab.

Not for a minute did she feel entitled to be treated like a princess or anything.

Few years later, I did her mom’s front yard. Installed sprinklers and sod. They both chased me around trying to pay me. They gave up and let me marry the daughter. Haha.

Cash is a fickle thing. Tread carefully.
